Well if your computer has a recovery partition installed from factory then all you need todo is a full factory recovery of your hard drive, to do that assuming your running windows vista or above. before booting from the resume option hit f8 and attempt o get into advanced menu. if successful choose repair my computer and then select restore to factory image or what ever. allow it to reinstall windows your drivers and all the stuff that came with your computer new. If you do not have a recovery partition or simply cant reach your advance menu and you want to use a second hard drive then you must have a operating system installed on the drive and listed in the windows boot manager, If you have a recovery disk with your computer just simply install everything i mentions about from the recovery partition.
hope this helps.

check your system bios and check your advanced settings to ensure your are using your drive in ATA mode and not AHCI, if ahci is selected loading windows xp wont be possible. atfer setting to ahci f10 to save settings and exit , if you have your winxp disk in the tray after choosing cd in the bootmenu f12 it should allow you to hit any key to boot from cd. it should intall.

Load your first recovery disk, when the system is going through BIOS, press F9 on your keyboard, this should bring up the boot menu. Select Boot from CD Rom and it should start going through the recovery.

do i use the windows xp disk first? when i try using the driver disk it wont load it when i restart the computer it only makes it to the windows did not load properly screen and restarts again and when i try the reboot option it only lets me use the windows xp disk and after a couple minutes it gives me the option of setting up windows xp but when i choose that option it says setup did not find any hard disk drives on your computer, i cant afford $150 to have it rebooted again and its having the same problems it did a couple months back, what should i do?

The driver disk won't load windows for you. You need to use your Windows XP disk to start the install. If you cannot find any hard drives during the install, then that means you have to load the storage driver before the install starts, usually you will see an option that says "Press F6 to load a storage driver or 3rd party driver" This can get a bit complicated as you will need a USB floppy drive with the storage driver. You may be better off contacting HP for support on this.

My windows 8.1 wont reboot, screen goes blank then comes back on booted in an hour

Try rebooting into hardware mode and do any manual disk checks that determine of the disk is faulty. Check also that there is adequate RAM in the computer to run the OS. To little RAM can cause the machine to slow down to a crawl if it is low due to virtual memory disk swapping.

Got a boot up problem. Windows loads for about 2 seconds then sends me the windows resume loader screen and then when I click continue with system resume it goes to the blue screen, loads windows for 2...

I'd suggest that your memory or hard drive is going bad.
RAM issues are normally accompanied by a blue screen with a STOP 0xxxxx00038 (example) type of message or a Page fault type error, which is caused when windows loads, and the full potential of the Ram module is used, highlighting the fault with the module.

Try substituting a RAM module and see if this stops the problem, then, if you get it running, download MEMTEST and run it for an hour to check the ability of the ram to read and write information.

If the ram is ok, the fault may be with the hard drive, a faulty drive will not read the sectors that Windows is installed on and this might account for the constant rebooting. If you can remove the drive test it externally using a docking station or slave it to a working computer and download HDD check, which will test for any performance drop or bad sectors.

If you think that the Ram and HDD are ok, then obtain an external USB DVD drive and try a repair after setting the bios to boot from the USB drive

My dell 600 goes into the blue screen and Wont Load (Error mesg)

This is quite common, and easy to fix, I have included a link below to help you.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811014

Insert the Windows Recovery CD into the disk drive and reboot the computer.
Check the computer's boot order. This must be done from the BIOS set-up before boot begins. Pressing "F2" will start the BIOS set up on most PCs. (This is not always the case, and the boot screens will tell you which button will take you to the system set-up.) Make sure that your CD drive comes before your hard disk in the boot order.
Select the drive with the Windows installation you wish to repair when you see the menu to select a hard disk drives. If you have mistakenly swapped a Windows Installation CD for the recovery disk, enter the automated system recovery and place the recovery disk in the drive when prompted to do so.
Select the drive that needs to be prepared. You will be asked for the administrator password. Enter the administrator account password if one has been set up.
Type "expand d:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ c:\windows\system32." Windows is not case sensitive, but you must spell the commands correctly. This copies the ntoskernel.exe file to the approrpriate directory.
Press "Y" when the program asks if you want to proceed.
Enter the exit command and the reboot the system. Take the CD out of the drive and Windows should load correctly.
