I have a microtek 1900 flatbed scanner. It was working fine in all modes. Worked great using Acrobat create PDF from scanner. My computer shop recently cleaned up my computer: Viruses, garbage, etc etc. Now my i900 is neither recognized as a usb device and not recognized by either Acrobat or Photoshop. I have reloaded the Scanmaker software with no success. What needs to be done? Thanks Ron

On the Microtek web site, I only see an XP driver. Your friend could try installing a generic TWAIN compliant scanner that is included in the Windows 7 OS or try to install the XP driver using the XP SP3 compatability mode (right click on the file, choose Properties and then the Compatability tab). Those drivers are at http://support.microtek.com/downloads/drv_specific.phtml?slct_os=8&prod=14&bymdlnme=1 .

A different method is available on Win7 Pro or Ultimate. Download and install the XP mode to create a virtual computer running Windows XP. Install the scanner to this "second" computer. Your friend will probably need to save the files to external media to transfer them between the two "computers".

Have you tried creating a pdf from a file to eliminate the an Acrobat problem?
If you can create a pdf from a file, then you may need to reload your scanner software.

change your adapter is has not proepr voltage which are reqired for scanner.

Throw the scanner away and replace-
Scanners used for DOS based systems [Win 95/8]
Wont work with NTFS systems[2000/XP/Vista]

first downloaded the trial version of Acrobat 7.0 and removed
Acrobat 6.0. Test scanning ok it will worked!

Proceed to uninstall the Acrobat 7 trial version and
reinstall the 6.0 version you own, try this i hope it will work for you.

Microtek is famous for making a good product that will last you a good while if it is maintained and taken care of. Yet their lack of support for said products is lacking. Try to uninstall and reinstall all the software for the scanner. Make sure before you uninstall that you still have the install disc. If not then you can find the drivers on the Microtek site.

I bought the pro version of the 8700, used it about once a month--very light use. When it died, I found that Microtek won't even sell parts! I agree, NEVER buy another Microtek product! This thing cost me over a $1000 and after one year, NO support! Any company but Microtek.
