Hi lacstatus,

This issue that you are getting right now with your notebook is called "No Boot". This can be a hardware or a software issue. But based on your description this is more on a software issue. Kindly follow the steps below.

Before doing the following procedures kindly do the "Power Drain" first. To do this turn off the system completely. Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter. Then, without any power source press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Once done, put back the battery in and plug in your AC adapter. Turn on the machine and observe if you will be able to boot up properly. If still same issue proceed on the steps below:

1. Check first if you will be able to boot up on Safe Mode.

2. To do this, start with your laptop shut down then turn it on. The moment you turn it on immediately keep on tapping F8 button until boot options appeared.

3. Then select Safe Mode.

4. If you'll be able to log in to your PC on Safe Mode you can do system restore.
Here's how you'll do system restore:

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore then System Restore window will appear just hit on NEXT > Check on Show more restore points > Select the date and time that you are able to use your laptop properly > NEXT > FINISH.

You may scan for affected programs if you want.

Wait until the system is finish doing system restore. Your machine will restart automatically and you'll be able to boot up on your PC normally.

Hope this helps.

    Hi there,

To boot using your disk follow these steps:

    1. First, insert the disk then turn off the laptop.

    2. After that turn on your machine and once it's on immediately keep on tapping F1 button to get into the set up.

    3. Once you're there press ESC (escape) button to get into the boot menu.

    4. Just choose to boot from the CD/DVD in the boot menu and it should work.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you for using FixYa.

The steps I have provided you are complete. However, since your boot disk is not being read or recognized by your machine this means that the disk is no longer working. You will need a new one and HP can send it to you. You may contact their support at 1 800 752 0900.

    Thank you for using FixYa.

The computer is having trouble finding the hard disk.
The problem could be a faulty hard disk or a faulty disk controller.
First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

My computer wont go into windows, all the farther it goes is the resuming windows screen, how do i reboot from the 2 disks that i have?

Load your first recovery disk, when the system is going through BIOS, press F9 on your keyboard, this should bring up the boot menu. Select Boot from CD Rom and it should start going through the recovery.

Try booting in safe mode. you may want to first try loading the last known good configuration.
To get into the Windows Vista Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use yourarrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key. Let computer boot to safe mode and then shutdown. If problem continues then Start in safe mode again.

After you boot to safe mode then go to Control Panel, System, Advanced System Settings, Advanced tab should be at the forefront. Go towards the bottom of the popup (Startup and Recovery) and select settings. Then in the settings popoup uncheck Automatically Restart. OK and apply everyithing then restart computer. Let me know what happens.

Nothing is working! I need help

You haven't received a response from Whisperwolf because our email notification system is down right now.

When you start your system and before your Dell screen shows, Press either the F2 or F10 screen. This should get you a System Bios setup screen. In this screen, see if there is an entry for your Hard drive and CDROM drive.

If you can get that far comment back and I'll check back here until our email system is working again. The fact that your computer is not responding to your CDROM is not a very good sign and your computer may have been starting to fail with the first of errors you received and is now at complete risk.

ZV5000 laptop wont boot up

Hi, You will need to boot from a boot disc or your Windows operating CD and from there you will be able to format the hard drive and reload windows.
If your hard disc has corrupted then placing the windows cd in the drive it should boot directly from there as there is no other operating system available.

Let us know how you go,
