Pc is slow

There are a number of possible reasons:
  • You have a virus on your computer
  • You have bad sectors on the hard drive
  • You have fragmentation on the hard drive
Restart the computer into Safe Mode with Networking (press F8 repeatedly while the computer starts up) when you get a menu with white text on a black background, choose Safe Mode with Networking.
  • Open your web browser and download malwarebytes anti malware from malwarebytes.org
  • Allow the program to update and launch
  • Perform a full scan
  • Remove any nasties and if malwarebytes finds anything, restart your computer and back into safe mode for the next step.
  • Open Start menu
  • Open Computer
  • Right click on Local Drive (C:)
  • Choose Properties
  • Click on the Tools tab
  • Click Check Now
  • Make sure the second box is checked and the first is not and click Start
  • Once completed click Defragment now
  • Click Defragment
These are the 3 main reasons why your computer is slow

Fix a slow running computer by:

-- cleaning system junk
-- optimizing computer services
-- optimizing internet
-- repairing registry
-- defraging registry
-- clearing browsers junk

do these things with some secure tool such as Intel Software Partner Reginout.

Now try updating your device drivers through control panel as beautifully explained by Bronk50 .

Thanks

try to run your computer with your Antivirus disabled temporarily
>if it runs faster then it is an issue with your anti virus but there only is a slim chance that this a security issue, but it's worth trying it.

if system is still slow:

>Try optimizing your browser by going to Internet Options on Control Panel
>click on Delete Files check the box that says DELETE ALL OFFLINE CONTENT and Delete Cookies under General tab
>Go to Advanced tab click on Restore default Settings or Restore Advanced Settings
>click Apply

>if this doesn't work,do a Disk Cleanup,Disk Defragmenter, or System Restore follow these steps:
>click on START
>click ALL PROGRAMS
>click ACCESSORIES
>click SYSTEM TOOLS
>click Disk Cleanup / Disk Defragmenter / System Restore
(these 3 tools are all on the same folder)
*****System Restore will be the last resort. this sets your computer back to the date when you know your computer was working perfectly fine.

Hi, Michelle.
Need a little more info...was this a "free" anti-virus program offering to scan pc/laptop free? for viruses? You didn't give any personal info out to it, did you?
Can you get to "safe mode"? If so, in safe mode go to control panel; add/remove programs;uninstall this program...if it won't let you, try doing a restore to a previous date prior to when you started getting this.
There is a "anti-virus" program that acts like a virus to get you to buy their removal tool.
