Question about Minn Kota Endura 30 Freshwater Transom Mount Trolling Motor

1 Answer

The controller was getting very hot. When I got home I removed the top to find the -battery wire insulation melted into the strands of wire. I cut the wire back a couple of inches to clean wire as well as the + wire to match length and installed new clips. I put the red positive the it's terminal and the black negative to it's terminal and now it runs backwards. I double checked the wiring. Was it wired wrong from the beginning to compensate for lower end wiring?

I received your reply, Thank You. Should I swap the wires to the brush plate in the lower end? The yellow coming out of the epoxy is in with the red, the black by itself is how it is now.

    Thank You for your reply.
What I discovered after a little research was that I had reassembled the lower end mid section 180 degrees out hence the reverse polarity. I removed the screws enough to rotate 180 radially. The overheating was corrected by better connections.

It is possible that the wires were reversed on the plate that holds the brushes. Since the motor is running backwards, the polarity is reversed and must be corrected for the motor to run correctly.

It doesn't really matter whether you reverse the wires at the top, or at the bottom, as long as they are the correct polarity. Here is an assembly diagram, just in case:

I has a dog chew on my .I'd like to fix it

If the bare wire is not showing, just wrap with black electric tape. If the bare wire is showing then
1. remove the insulation from the two wires about 1 inch on each side of the cut.
2. Go to a hardware store and get some wire nuts (small), twist the two ends together and screw on the wire nut.
3. Do the same thing to the other wire. Now take black electrical tape and tape each wire nut down the wire about 1/2 inch.
4. Tape both wire nuts together with electrical tape and the wire strands to the insulation and up the insulation about 1 inch.

How To Replace A Blower Motor In A 2005 Chevy Trailblazer

Under the passenger side of the dashboard, remove the three 7mm bolts holding the lower plastic cover from the dashboard. Drop down the plastic cover and you will see a square box and 2 or 3 plugs holding to the cover. Unbolt the control box mounted to that cover and the 3 harnesses of wires attached to it, and move them up and out of the way. Look up towards the front corner, the motor is bolted up into the heater box. There are 3 small metric bolts, 4.5mm, I believe, remove those bolts, disconnect the electrical connection to the motor and remove motor. Check the motor electrical connector for any burnt over overheated wires. Alot of these trucks' original connector plug had too small of wiring, causing the power wire to get hot and melt the wire insulation and the plug it's self. The 7 wire plug from the Chevy Dealership is $67.00. You'll need to cut off the old plug and use the connectors supplied with the new plug to replace the old plug. I have seen the blower motor cut off going over a bump, and then come back on after hitting another bump, due to the fact that the individual connector gets hot and melts into the plug. You may also want to look at the blower motor resistor which is mounted right next to the blower motor, sometimes the blower motor resistor will go out altogether, not powering the blower motor, or not allowing the motor to run at a selected speed.

Wiring schematic for a upper thermostat

Jan 2013
1) Copy following links for wiring upper thermostat:

2) Thermostat must sit flat against tank wall to read correct temperature, and entire opening must be covered with insulation so cool room temperature will not interfere with temperature reading.
Be sure to put cover back on side of tank for electrical safety, and to prevent any possible fire caused by melted parts and overheating.

3) Tighten wires very tight under screw plate, and make sure only copper wire is used, and all wires under plate are same gauge, do not mix stranded wire and solid wire or stranded will become loose.
Only copper under the screw plate and cut back insulation so no insulation gets under screw plate.

4) Add comment and say what you are doing

How can i repair a power cord that is cut without buying a new one:

Power chords have normally 2 or three colductors in it, which will be colour coded. Just remove the outer insulation of the wire to a convenient length, remove insulations of wach condcutors and join them by twisting its strands, or by soldering, so this to all the conductors, insulate them indicidualy and after all insulate the whole around with insulation tape. Insulation tape can be bought from electrical shops. OK.

My daughters Professional Waffle Maker has the same problem other customers have had with the unit - It lights up but no heat. My daughter got this as a present last Christmas and just recently took it out...

just fixed mine with info found on hear. If you're a little handy or have someone who is it's a simple fix. Under bottom plate a thermal fuse is connected in black wire under white insulation. I picked one up at radio shack2_bing.gif ( got the 228 dgree C.) I cut insulation and removed. I then cut black wire at connection at each side. I then placed new fuse in line and crimped small connectors on each side. Placed insulation back on and taped up. Screwed back together and it worked fine. Fuse cost $1.69. To think I almost tossed it.

Just wondering if you can help me with a electrial wiring problem? the wires have melted together and dont know which one is the earth as they keep blowing the fuses

I would think your best bet is to cut out the melted section and reconnect (through splices) the wires. They should be color coded, so you should know which wires connect together.

If you get the wires separated where the melted part is, spliced together, and properly insulated, which one is the ground really shouldn't matter. You have removed the point where the positive is touching the negative, and the fuse blowing should stop.

I would suggest you use heat shrink tubing to insulate the spliced wires.

Samsung htz310 home cinema system, speaker cable problem

If it's just the speaker cable, it's an easy fix. There are two strands of wire for each cable. I would cut the cable at the break, seperate the strands carefully about two inches in each direction, either by pulling them apart, or by using a knife, being careful to preserve the insulation around each strand (sometimes pulling apart the strands will pull the insulation from one side or the other depending on how fragile it is - I usually just start the seperation with a knife, and then pull them apart slowly). Then you can strip back the insulation about an inch on either side of the break on each strand.

To strip back the insulation, take a sharp knife and cut through the insulation by cutting around the wire on each strand about an inch back in both directions being careful to not cut through the wire. A few of the strands won't make a big difference, but if you cut too much it may be best to start over.

Once you have about an inch of wire exposed on each strand, you can intertwine the wires to put them back together. Just hold the bare ends of each seperated strand side-by-side and twist them together. If you mix up which strands are which, mark one of the sides with tape or a sharpie to make sure you twist the right ends together. Usually there is a white stripe on the positive strand, or some other marking that runs the length on one side only, so that's a good guide for putting the right wires back together.

Once that is done, you need to isolate the bare wires from each other. I usually bend them parrallel to the cable in opposite directions, and then use electrical tape run between them and around each strand. Once they are isolated and not in danger of touching, use some heatshrink tubing around the whole patch to make it lasting and durable. It won't look pretty, but it will work just fine. You can find heatshring tubing at Radio Shack. Just slide a big enough piece to cover the repaired area on from the end of the cable without the connector, and then use a hairdryer to shrink the tubing around the patch. If you don't have a hairdryer, you can use a match or candle. Just be careful.

Alternatively, you can just wrap more electrical tape around the whole area in a diagonal, but tape isn't nearly as durable a patch as heatshrink.

Hope that helps.

Wont start 1995 80 series landcruiser

One of the red wires on your battery works the power to the ignition.
If a wire has melted it`s insulation, the wire could be burnt out.
Also, repeated starting attempts will cause the wires to get very hot.
Why did you change the battery ? Was it just flat or didi you have this problem before you changed it.?
