SOURCE: my smoker reads eaaf on he digital printout

Hold a warm rag over the end of the thermocouple sticking out of the back, INSIDE the smoker. When the probe gets up to 40F or so the element will turn on and you will be good to go. The computer just doesn't understand whats up when the thermometer gives such a low reading.

Clarification...coldest outdoor winter temperature to use smoker outdoors. still chuckling over last response!

That was a funny response Sandra.

If you keep the propane bottle somewhere warm and then connect it when you want to use the grill and smoker whenever you want. You are a lady, so you could knit a little jacket for the tank to keep it warm whilst the smoker is running. :>)

The only thing that will stop you is when the propane is so cold that it doesn't vaporise the liquid into gas.

30" Masterbilt smoker won't get over 60 degrees. I

I am having the same problems with mine. I have rebuilt the connection, three times.
I am going to pull the element out and replace it with a single-burner heating element like the Proctor-Silex 34101. That will be plenty of heat for the smoking I do.

We have the masterbuilt 700 series digital smokehouse. The wood chips are no longer burning - we have no smoke. Is the repair easy and cheap?

You probably have a bad heating element, Turn the unit on then turn your digital heat to 275 and open door the heating element should become cherry red. If it doesn't then you have a bad heating element. If you do not get a digital readout then you probably have a bad digital control panel. Both of those parts can be replaced, however i do not know the price for either of those parts. If you have neither working then you may have a short or broken wire that is not making a full curcuit. Good Luck

Heating Element Failure

I just bought a new Masterbuilt Smoker by default two weeks ago I borrowed a friend’s to smoke about 30lb. of Salmon to then can. Ran the smoker every day for three day. ON my last batch the heating element would not work. Talk about Frustrated! The Smoker was only 2 yrs. old.

Knowing I borrowed I felt I had to replace. So online to Cabelas and I ordered my buddy a new smoker and had it shipped. I then found this website... GOT TO LOVE the internet. I saw many other people had the same problem. Found an Answer...

The Problem was one of the connector to the heating element was poor quality and if you don't clean your smoker on a regular basis. The heat and moister caused the small copper connector to corrode and the wire to come loose. I took a wood chisel and cut off all the rivets on the back. I was then able to pull the back off with no damage and access the small box in the lower back. I found the connector. Went to the hardware store and bought a replacement for .75 cents. A pair of wire crimpers and the problem was fixed. I also bought ½ inch Sheet metal screws to secure the back it was good as new. So I returned the smoker to my buddy and kept the new one. When it arrived I saw Masterbuilt has since fixed the problem and provided an access panel to the element and connectors.

This is where I got my manual for my 20070106 manual. You may need to 'drop' out the last bit of stuff so you can get your model number, ie <...>/smokehouse%20models%20esq30b,%20esq30b.pdf

Try that....
