Question about White Sewing Superlock 1934D Mechanical Sewing Machine

1 Answer

I have a white superlock 534- I recently broke a needle and now I cannot load two needles. After unscrewing the screw- I try to load two needles and only the right will stay in--left falling out. If I load the left needle only, it will stay and the same with the right, but I want two needles loaded. Any help would be appreciated. I do have the pressure foot down, wheel in the highest position.

I broke a needle and then when I went to replace the broken one with a new needle. After unscrewing the screw- I try to load two needles and only the right will stay in--left falling out. If I load the left needle only, it will stay and the same with the right. When I replaced both needles with the new needles it worked. What was happening was one needle top was fatter than the other one so the screw only held the fatter neede in place. If the fatter needle was removed the thinner needle would be held in place. When I put two of the new needles in it worked perfect.

SOURCE: needle clamp won't attach to needle bar

There is a set screw above the needle pin screw which tightens with an allen wrench--try that.

SOURCE: Needle timing.

Timing of a sewing machine, which timing? Needle to hook timing is fairly simple, turn the hand wheel in the direction the machine sews until it is at bottom of the stroke. Continue turning it until it moves up 2.54 mm if it is timed correctly the point of the hook should be right behind the needle and passing above the eye in the middle of the scarf of the needle. There are several timing of a sewing machine, needle to hook, feed and swing timing.

SOURCE: Kenmore sewing machine 385.1960180, problem with needle centering

That sounds like it's definitely an internal adjustment. The machine will need to be opened up and the left/right adjustment taken care of. Is this machine one that you can open the top easily, or is it the type that has the front and rear shell?

SOURCE: I broke a needle on something hard. After I

This sounds like your metal plate needs adjustment. Loosen the screws and adjust it until the needle goes all the way down. If that doesnt work, ensure that your bobbin case has been aligned properly.

SOURCE: left needle thread keeps breaking

the tension must be too tight or check to make sure the spool does not have a crack that is catching the thread in the middle of using the serger. When the serger is working and the spool has a crack it catching the thread then you press to go on and it gives a break the needle because the spool is still holding onto the thread

White Superlock serger continually breaking needles

First take all the thread out of the machine. Put in new needles and run the machine slowly by hand and see if there is a problem with timing. If the needle hits and bends or breaks... take it in to be timed. If the needle don't hit....

Make sure you are properly threading this thing. Unlike a sewing machine which gives you some leeway, Sergers must be threaded in a certain order. Typically, upper looper, lower looper, right needle left needle. If you break a thread you can't just rethread that thread... you have to start from the beginning.

You might check singerco.com for the manual for this thing. They have most of white's manuals online they are identified by a W before the serger model number.

What is the size of the needle used in the white superlock 1934D

This is a very highly regarded serger. Check out the reviews on http://sewing.patternreview.com if you're interested--but they are all extremely positive.

I also checked out the White Sewing Machine site--the three sergers they currently sell all use regular sewing machine needles.

Based on what I read on both sites, I believe your machine also uses regular sewing machine needles (not all sergers do, BTW). To be absolutely certain, you can call the White Help Line (l 800-331-3164, Monday through Friday 8AM to 5PM, EST).

If your serger uses regular sewing machine needles, then the size of the needle depends on the type of fabric you're sewing. Sizes 8 to 10 for lightweight fabrics, 12 to 14 for medium weight fabrics, and 16 to 18 for heavy weight. Use ballpoint needles for knits, jeans needles for denim, and universal needles or sharps for woven fabrics.

Bottom thread keep breaking , sew an inch then break !!

Make sure that the needle is all the way up in the needle bar.
Unscrew until just loose, use finger nail or small screw driver to push up on the needle. The two needles do not line up.The right needle extends longer. Also, make sure that there are no burs on the needles and that they are straight and correct for your machine.

Right needle broke twice

Needle sizes: 14 for general sewing, 11 for light-weight fabrics. Make sure that the needles are as far into the needle bar as they can go. Remember that the right needle extends out just slightly further than the left (they do not line up). Be sure that needles are inserted with the flat side away from you.

I have a white superlock 228 jaguar serger problems with right needle

Couple of things I could think of: tension disks need cleaning, there is a site that tells how to clean them, maybe 2 as I recall. Other thing is it is a much older serger, (I have one I am slowly working on to bring up to working level), so it could be that a tension spring internally has lost its tension. It might need a trip to the repair man if that is the case. Another thing is are you using correct needles for the machine? Have you changed them recently? Even new needles can be bad, so if you have to change three times to triple check it can be worth it.
