I have a 1998 model E25RMECA I NEED TO KNOW WHAT TYPE GAS TO USE IN IT. AND IF IT IS 2 CYCLE OR 4CYCLE.

I found a mixture of sites for the information
one owner of a 1998 25 hp evinrude says that it is a 2 stroke with a fuel mix ratio of 50:1 as 25:1 is a bit smokey
another site says that the recommended octane fuel rating is 87 although it might run better on 91
best advice is to find an evinrude service dealer and get the right information as the later 25 hp units are etec engine which will be 4 strokes

Doesn't seem to use oil? Oil reservoir never seems to go down?

The fuel to oil ratio should be 50:1, which means for every 50 gallons of fuel you use, you should use 1 gallon of oil.

You should see some smoke haze at starting and during running.

Having run an Evinrude that had had the auto pump disconnected in favour of pre-mixing fuel, I would take the boat to a marine engineer to check the pump and delivery. You know it is pretty disastrous when all the oil is burned out.

Evinrude outboards

Johnson and Evinrude carbureted 2-stroke outboards since 1964 require a 50:1 fuel to oil mixture (2%) on engines without an automatic oiling system - 6 gallons of gas to 1 pint of outboard oil.

What is the oil to gas ratio in my 4 horse Evinrude< Model # E4BRHCOB Ser # B101702

50:1 since the late 60's
Too much oil will gum up the rings, smoke too much and foul plugs. Use ONLY major outboard manufacturers oil, Mercury, Yamaha, Johnson/Evinrude TCW-3. They work the best, and no alcohol fuel.

Fuel mix ratio for 1939 evinrude 3.3hp motor

If you use synthetic or newer oils, follow the recommendation of the oil manufacturer.

Being from 1939, a 2 stroke engine would have been designed to run leaded gas and a very unrefined oil that would burn easily in the combustion chamber. Today's gas and oils aren't even close to what they were in 1939.

If you use a synthetic oil, the mfg's recommendation is usually something like 50:1.

Missing operators manual for Evinrude 2 hp outboard motor

Your best bet is ebay for a replacement user manual. Take a look around, you will come across one... For the meantime, gas oil ratio should be 50 parts gas to 1 part oil, i.e. 50:1. General care: Dont go full throttle for any length of time. Cruise of 3/4 throttle... Always flush engine after use in saltwater, including washing down exterior. Keep spark plugs in good order and check prop for fishing line wrapped around in near the prop hub. Otherwise, get a yearly service and have them check the water pump and replace as needed, get it tuned etc and gearbox oil changed.
