Question about Tecumseh Air Filter Assy 33268 Generator Chipper 8hp

1 Answer

My craftsman 8HP chipper/vac (attached to my John Deere riding mower) is shooting out white smoke big enough that my neighbor sees it. The engine still runs, but a big chuck-chuck-chuck noise when the smoke comes out or like 5 seconds or so and then back to normal for about 5 seconds or so and the smoke repeats. What seems to be the problem? We bought this without a manual. And didn't know where to pour the oil (SAE 10W 30). We poured it in that long tube (where you take out the oil metal stick out and check the levels). Now I'm beginning to wonder that caused the problem. Are you supposed to pour the oil in the same tank as the gas tank?? Help, help!!

You may have overfilled the oil base. Make sure the unit is sitting level then measure the oil. The oil does go into the same tube as the dipstick.

SOURCE: Troy-Bilt Chipper/Vac 5HP gas leaks out the carburetor

this problem sounds like a stuck float or the needle valve that attaches to the float is not properly seating in the carb body.Remove the filler bowl from the carb body and insure that there is no debris in the float needle valve and also if it is a metal float, make sure it does not have a hole in the float. After cleaning the needle valve, reinstall the pin that holds the float and make sure the float moves up and down with the needle valve seating in the carb body. Reattach filler bowl insuring that it does not interfere w/the float.Hopefully this will solve your problem. good luck Tom Murphy

SOURCE: 13 hp tecumseh riding mower won't start unless gas is poured into carb. removed the bowl from carb has a wire snap holder float and needle and seat works OK and all passageways seem to be clean

remove the bowl again and get the centre jet out and lok very closely use a jewlers eye piece you wll find a passage that is plugged on the side of the jet look around it you ll see some sign of a hole that is not clear through its pretty small use a welders torch cleanng tool with various size rods use very thin one dont make the hole bigger

Why is my john deere d140 having white smoke coming out of engine

If white smoke is also coming out of your exhaust oil is leaking past the piston rings into the combustion chamber and is being burned along with the fuel. If its not coming from the exhaust it may have been overfilled and oil could be leaking out and burning when it comes into contact with the engine.

J power and smokes white

Possibly a head gasket problem (as the head heats up it warps slightly, allowing coolant to seep into the cylinders, which is the source of the white smoke--steam) Is the motor using coolant?

Hello my name is John. I have a 345 John Deere lawn tractor. The problem is that it starts idles rough won't idle up and does not run strong enough to move the mower. It just chugs and puffs white smoke...

345's have a habit of the choke sticking at the carb.Another problem they have is the fuel pump diaphram will crack and allow your engine to fill up with fuel,to much fuel in crankcase will end up past the rings when not running and smoke pretty bad when fired up.
