SOURCE: Yamaha rx770 stereo receiver

I have the same receiver with the same problem. I fixed it by using a cleaning spray on the inside of the input switch. Deoxit 5 is the cleaner and it took care of the problem.

SOURCE: onkyo integra a-809 amplifier

I recently had an extended episode solving a distortion issue with my Onkyo A-807. I also asked my repairman about the spontaneous switching of the output selector. He told me the output is managed by a motor driven selector located in the back of the unit, not where the dial is, so I don't expect cleaning the contacts at the knob to help. The idea of protecting the remote cable, if you use it, seems more plausible. The contacts at the knob are very difficult to access, and according to my repairman, the motor is in a sealed compartment - so I think remedies other than protecting the remote cable will be difficult.
Just FYI, my distortion problem was from the record selector position "Source". It goes away when the selector is in the "Off" position, or when I disconnect the cable going from my CD recorder to the DAT "REC" jack in the back. I spent a lot of time and money figuring this out. I suspect it is an issue with more than just my unit. If you don't have anything plugged into the DAT jack, or leave the record source on off , you'll never notice this and enjoy a happier listening experience.

SOURCE: My Arcam AVR300 is having issues with the digital

The problem (Known to Arcam) is with the some diodes in the power supply to the DSP board. Over time they do not work properly and the power fluctuation makes the sound distort. They need replacing (only once to a higher spec) if you contact Arcam they can advise you.

Maybe a firmware (that's the running program) problem I'd contact Arcam, if your Solo has a USB input they should be able to send you a firmware update which you can download to a USB stick and then upload to the Solo (instructions will be in the manual). If not your local Arcam dealer should be able to do it for you Arcam warranties are 3 to 5 years. Don't now if they'll edit this but also try AV Forums online. good luck

Hi -

Sony CD player Red / White RCA - > CD input RCAs on the Arcam.

From the Arcam Preamp Output RCA's, go to the Bose "Input". From the Bose "Output", you need RCA splitters to make them into four outputs to run your amplifier connections.clmrt5000_2.jpgclmrt5000_3.jpg

My CD tray closes before I insert disk

check the micro switches on the cd mechanism. these can go wrong sometimes. it's obviously not sending a message to the micro chip that the tray is open therefor it will close again automatically.

How to hook up a computer sub to a hometheater amp

If you have the whole Z5500 package you could run the Arcam's optical- or coaxial digital audio output to the corresponding input on the Logitech.

But I'd be careful about letting BOTH the Arcam and the Logictech perform Digital Sound Processing on the sound. DSP's aren't meant to be stacked. My money says the Arcam is better in the DSP department than the Logitech.

If you have just the sub, run the Sub PRE out from the Arcam to the Sub/Center input (adapt it to 3.5 mm) on the Control Center and set the switch to "6 ch direct".

Marantz SA-1 installation question

Does your Marantz have an "optical" or "digital" out?

If so, use them. Assuming you have a quality receiver/pre-amp/amplifier it will have it's own D/A converters.

If you plug into the receiver's CD inputs you will be using the D/A converters in the Marantz.

If you plug into the DVR/SACD inputs - it depends on the receiver et al.

Try both. See if one sounds better. Select the one that sounds best. For a top-notch system you need high quality from cables to receiver, and speakers. You system can only be as good as your weakest link, so what sounds good/great to your ears, that is the best!

Cheers

Can I connect a power amp to this unit?

If your 2100ES has a selectable INPUT AND OUTPUT and if you're intending to send all signal to the power amp, i.e. not bi-wiring or using the 2100ES to run mid-range or treble then you simply send Left & Right audio (White & Red cable) from a 2100ES output, probably AUX OUT ( it doesn't really matter apart from Phono on some units) straight to the power amp on AUX IN.
We should be just dealing with audio here, so connect the NAD audio output to CD or DVD IN. Select CD or DVD IN on 2100ES input switch and switch output to AUX OUT (whatever you decided goes to the power amp) on the 2100ES. Turn power amp to AUX IN and it will now get an audio signal from the 2100ES for amplification.
Speakers connect to the power amp as a normal amp, so pos and neg etc. The 2100ES now only acts as a signal feed, the power amp does all the work.

So, summary - switch on the NAD, press play - video goes separately and audio goes to the 2100ES. Turn 2100ES to INPUT for NAD. Turn 2100ES to OUTPUT allocated for power amp. Turn INPUT on power amp to allocation for 2100ES.

Turn it up!
