I HAVE A TOSHIBA 43H70 I BOUGHT IN 2001 AND THE RED AND BLUE ARE OFF ON THE RIGHT SIDE. I HAVE TRIED TO USE THE CONVERGENCE BOARD TO STRAIGHTEN BUT MY RED WILLNOT MOVE TOWARD THE BLUE OR GREEN. ON NUMBER 1,3,7 THEY ARE RIGHT BUT ON 2,8 THEY ARE ABOUT HALF WAY AND ON THE 3, 6,9 THEY ARE WAY OFF AND SLANTED DOWNWARD. THEY ARE OFF ABOUT 1/2 INCH. CAN YOU HELP ME DIAGNOSE WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY TV OR IS IT WORTH FIXING.
Im haveing an issue with adjusting only the RED in some area of my tv's grid areas. By that I mean that some sections of the grid the RED will move in any direction and align just right while in other areas the RED is so far off that it will not move correctly or far enough to align with the blue and green. My blue and green alignments seem fine - only having issues with some areas of the RED. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Your convergence has failed and needs to be repaired. Once quick test is to goto your convergence menu and see if you can adjust red and blue. If not its has failed and needs to be fixed. You can call in a repair shop or you can get the parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com and do the repair yourself. Its a fairly easy DIY fix.
This tv the convergence board are dead.Any colors R,G,B mis alignment, don't matches any colors lines. The tv convergence board the 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors are dead. These parts are dead, must be replaced to solved convergence problems. The Shop will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.
Hello, its very possible there are other color alignments thats out of ajustements and certain color lines will affect each range of alignment and
you will need a tech to come out and check the control unit on your set.
Did you check the resistors that power the ICs ocasionally 1 or 2 of them will go open when the ICs go out. They are located right next to the ics. Remove one leg of the resistors out of circuit, you will no doubt find one or two that are open and need to be replaced.
Hi Mark, tough call without putting a scope to the circuit, either the convergence IC`s are going bad, signal from DCU is going bad (digital convergence unit), or possibly bad solder somewhere in the convergence circuit, I`m afraid your going to need a tv tech for that problem, BMW Rider

You have a convergence problem, but you are adjusting the wrong system. You need to adjust the convergence rings first ok You need a dot and crosshatch generator to properly set convergence for this set. Connect the generator set the TV to channel 3 and turn on the generator set it to dots adjusting the convergence try to get the center dot RGB all together and then adjust for the outer edges using the convergence board. the use the crosshatch to adjust convergence along the lines of the crosshatch pattern. Remember use the rings first and the the convergence board adjustments.
If the blue color is curving inward on one side, this is caused by one of the convergence IC's which has burned out. There are 2 large black convergence IC's mounted on large metal heat sinks and one of them will have to be replaced and that should be done by someone experienced in repairing and realigning convergence circuits. Some shops prefer to go ahead and replace both at the same time, removing the STK392-110's and installing 2 updated STK392-150's, which is not such a bad idea. When I do a housecall to repair a set like that I charge $150, since the IC's are about $7 each and it takes about an hour to change them, so ask around the shops in your area and see if anyone's price is better than $500, which sounds way too high.
If the blue colors will not line up, and the blue appears to sag inward from one or more sides, then you can bet that one of your convergence IC's has either cracked loose or burned out. The IC should be resoldered or replaced and the convergence realigned by someone experienced with projection TV convergence circuits.
