Nothing is working. Compatibility testing would not install a driver. I did find the scanner on the device manager but there was a yellow flag attached to it. What do you suggest I do next? Does another scanner company (not Microtek) have a driver that would solve my problem?
I am looking forward for you advice.

In order to install the scanner in Windows Vista or Windows 7, you need to disconnect the scanner from the back of the computer's USB cable. Next install the driver and reboot your computer. Once your computer has rebooted connect the scanner to the back of the computer's USB connector. Also you need to check if the scanner is being detected without a yellow exclamation in the device manager. If a yellow exclamation is in device manager, remove the scanner from the device manger and reboot the computer.
Visit the link below and download the main installer.

Right click the main installer and select run as administrator.

You should be able to use the driver for the XP. If you still have the disk you may use it. It should install it and get to a window that it would tell you that the driver is not a new one, you should be able to select 'Continue Anyway'

Unfortunately the device only has driver for XP. I think they discontinued this one.

When the item is scanned it sends it to the printer rather than to the computer. What is wrong? How to you get it to save to the computer? microtek scanmaker i320 Looked at all the controls and tried...

Open your ScanWizard, next to "Preview" Tab, is the "Scan To" Tab. Click on the "Scan To" Tab & Create a Folder for your scanned items to be saved on the PC, and click OK.

I have a microtek i320 scanner I used with win XP Since upgrading to Win 7 it no longer works. How can I upgrade my driver? Can I buy the proper driver without buying a whole new scanner?

This scanner should work with the XP 32-bit driver. The driver is here: http://support.microtek.com/knowledgebase_1/kbdtl.phtml?request=KB-00106SW . See the link for other scanners. Unplug the data cable, uninstall the scanner if it has a yellow triangle with an exclamation point, then install the driver. After installation, connect the data cable.

The support site for this scanner is here: http://support.microtek.com/product_dtl_2.phtml?prod_id=34 . This information is given in the Knowledge Base section if the other link doesn't work.

I know this will work with Win7 32-bit. I'm not sure about the 64-bit version. If the 64-bit version doesn't work with the above driver, you can either replace the scanner, use it with another computer with an older version of Windows, run a dual boot system with an older version of Windows and install the scanner only on that system, or run a virtual computer with an older version of Windows.

If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate, you can do the virtual computer for free. Download and install Microsoft's Virtual PC and XP mode. Install the scanner in XP mode as you would on any XP computer. The only restriction is that the files may need to be saved to external media to share them between the two computers.

All other options will require a licensed version of the older Windows OS. (Virtual computer packages include VMWare and Parallels in addition to Virtual PC.)

I hope this helps.

My s400 works with Vista but not Windows 7, I

It will work with win 7 but it is complicated.

Download driver from the Microtek website
extract the files to your drive
locate the setup.exe file where you extracted the files
after the driver is installed reboot the pc

Now for the fun part...

Once PC is fully rebooted plug in Scanner ScanMaker s400
Windows looks for drivers in “windows update” and the “preconfigured driver folder”
Windows cannot find a driver.
Close “Driver Software Installation” window
Open Device Manager
Device manager shows yellow bang next to “USB scanner” under “Other Devices”
Right click on usb scanner
click “update driver software”,
Click on “Browse my computer for driver software”
Click on “let me pick from list of device drivers on my computer”
Click on “Imaging Devices”
Click Next
Under Manufacture there is no Microtek
Click on “Have Disk”
Click on Browse
Locate ScanWizard 5 V6.63 folder
Locate Disk 1
Locate Vista
Locate X86
There is a list of INF files
Choose first inf file, “Mii_x86_004.inf”
Click Open
Click OK
Now under Manufacture two entries are listed, Microtek and Microtek Driver Team,
On the other side there is a list devices s400 is not listed
There is an entry for 4800 Scanner
Select it and click next
An “update Driver Warning” opens select yes
Window now shows successful driver update.
And the scanner is listed as 4800 scanner
Click close
Close device manager
Open Scan wizard program
Scanner works fine.
The scanner will not work nativly with windows scanning.

New pc dell inspiron windows vista. need JUST the drivers for a microtek i320

Hi den9140,

I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but the i320 was made before Vista came out, so it is only compatible with Windows XP and earlier. In addition, Microtek has announced that it plans to cease selling consumer products in North America, so there will not be any additional drivers coming.

Again I apologize, and I wish I had better news for you - please let me know if I can be of any future assistance.
