No heat and the timer not operating is an incoming power problem, shut off and reset the breaker or check both fuses at the power panel in the house, the element needs 240volts a.c. to heat and the drum motor that turns the clothes is on one side of the 240volts which will be 120 volts a.c. and the timer is on the other 120 volts a.c.,if you lose either phase either the timer or drum motor wont turn and for sure it will not heat up,also check the neutral terminal wire inside the dryer for burning off as it carries all the return current from both phase power wire,if this opens tho it will only heat and no drum or timer operation

Whirpool amana dryer runs but no heat. on timed try timer doesnt move either.

HI, the timer motor is malfunctioning. this can affect the way you dryer heats in this case. I would advise to check the thermal fuse before replacing the timer. it is located on the blower house or, on the vent duct. in will show no continuity if defective. replace the timer if the thermal fuse is showing good continuity when measure with a meter.

Dryer will not start

It is possible that the door switch is defective. Switch is on inside of front panel. If so you have to dismantle dryer to remove switch. This switch will prevent motor from starting. Is timer running? You should be able to hear small motor running near timer. If not, make sure 240 volt breaker is not tripped. Dryer motor and timer only run on 120 volts and heating element uses 240 volts. So, if one side of 240 volt circuit is dead it may be the side of the circuit that powers motor. Try flipping breaker off and on again. If possible, check circuit with volt meter ONLY if you know how to. If not, get a tech to check out.

No heat

If this is a Whirpool model dryer (this includes Kenmore, Estate and Roper), the heating element will be located on the lower right hand side with the back panel removed. If the dryer does not have removable back panel, the heating element will be located inside the dryer under the drum on the right hand side.

Since you posted no brand name or model number, I'm going by the heading you posted this under. If your dryer model is different, please post back with your correct information so that I may assist you better.

Dryer will not heat

check high limit thermostat, operating thermostat and centrifugal sw on motor. voltage is always present going into centrif sw and is cut by motor stopping. timer feeds other phase going thru thermostats to heater.

Whirpool dryer won't heat up

You need to replace the thermal fuse and the timer. A bad timer will over draw a thermal fuse and cause it to blow.

Please remember to unplug the dryer before servicing
