Question about HP Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

My C-6180 Photosmart started having paper jams after having worked so long and never had one. Its catching as it makes the turn from the inspection door and jams in the entrance to the printer inside. Ive inspected the paper for a curl or bend, all is as it should be. There doesn't seem to be a reason why. Charles H. Zeisset, Sr. czeisset@aol.com

Hi there,
Sometimes paper will stick together with static cling to counteract this you need to fan the the paper like a deck of cards with your thumb.Do this side ways and long ways a couple of times.Thank You for choosing FixYa.com.

My hp photosmart c7250 will not clear printing jam. after reseting, the rollers keep running until it times out then displays a print jam.

Sounds more like an out of paper response rather than a jamb. Make sure the pickup roller can actually catch the paper. Use a polymit to roughen the rollers slightly in the slot where the paper is contained. If you take the paper out and look down the slide that holds the paper you will see two or sometimes 3 rollers They can become shiny and fail to grab the paper. Make sure you use proper printing paper and not photocopy paper as this is the stuff that has resinous coating that causes rollers to become shiny.

To also ensure that there is not a tiny piece of paper covering the detection eye for paper jamb use a piece of stiff card and run it through the paper path with a little assistance from you pushing it while the roller turns. This will often remove any tiny bits of paper or waxy substance from the eye.

Cartrige jam how do i fix

Hi,
  • Inspect the paper trays to make sure they are not overloaded. To determine if this is the problem, do a test print with only one piece of paper loaded in the paper tray. (If this turns out to be the problem, keep the paper tray half-full in the future.
  • Check that the type of paper being used falls within the printer manufacturer's recommendations. For example, paper designed for ink-jet printers doesn't necessarily work well in laser printers. High-quality, bonded paper will cause paper jams in some printers; look for bonded paper that is "laser and ink-jet compatible."
  • If someone has recently printed labels on this printer, check to see if a label has come unglued from a sheet and become stuck inside the printer.
  • Check the gears and rollers for stuck shreds of torn paper from previous jams. Turn off the printer before you attempt to remove the bits of paper.
  • If you have a laser printer, inspect the printer's paper rollers. They should be smooth but not shiny. Rollers that are cracked or glazed are a frequent cause of paper jams and should be replaced by a technician.
  • If you have a laser printer, try cleaning the printer's paper rollers with a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol (available at electronics shops or drugstores).
  • Try changing the toner or ink cartridge.
  • If you hear a clinking sound during printing, your printer probably has a broken gear and needs to be serviced by a technician.

Paper jams using nextech premium photo pape gloss finish

  1. Before you do anything else, turn the printer off and on by following these steps:
    1. Turn off the printer by pressing the Power button.
    2. If the optional HP Photosmart Internal Battery is not installed in the printer, unplug the printer power cord. Wait about 10 seconds, then plug the power cord back in.
    3. If the optional HP Photosmart Internal Battery is installed in the printer, unplug the printer power cord, if it is plugged in. Open the battery compartment cover and remove the battery. Wait about 10 seconds, then reinstall the battery. If desired, plug in the power cord.
    4. Turn on the printer. The printer checks for paper in the paper path and will automatically eject the jammed paper. Press OK to continue.
If the error still occurs, go on to the next step.
  2. If the paper came part way through the front of the printer, gently pull the paper towards you to remove it.
  3. If the paper did not come part way through the front of the printer, try removing it from the back of the printer:
    1. Remove the paper from the In tray, then push in the catches to release the in tray. Figure 1: In tray catches c00256377.jpg
    2. Open the In tray to a horizontal position.
    3. Gently pull the jammed paper to remove it from the back of the printer.
    4. Before you lift the In tray to close it, make sure it is pushed all the way to the right on its hinges. Figure 2: Pushing the tray to the right before closing c00256378.jpg
    5. Lift the In tray up until it snaps back into paper-loading position.
  4. Open and close the pen door on the front of the printer to make sure it is securely latched. Figure 3: Opening and closing the pen door c00269435.gif
How to avoid paper jams
  • Make sure that the cartridge door on the front of the printer is securely closed.
  • If you experience paper jams while printing, try loading one sheet of photo paper at a time. Insert the paper as far as it will go into the In tray.
  • Do not add paper while the unit is printing.
  • Do not use paper that is too thin, too slick, or that stretches.
  • Do not use torn or creased paper. Paper that has been printed previously may cause jams.

HP PHOTOSMART 6180

Tips for Avoiding paper jams
  • Do not use extremely smooth, shiny, or coated papers unless they are specifically designed for HP Photosmart printers.
  • Do not use multi-part forms (such as duplicate or triplicate forms).
  • Do not use torn, dusty, damp, wrinkled, or curled paper.
  • Do not use paper with bent edges or paper that will not lie flat.
  • Make sure that the OUT tray is installed correctly.
  • Make sure that the paper adjusters are not pushed up so tightly against the paper that it is bending in the paper tray. The paper-width adjuster should be placed against the left side of the paper. The paper-length adjuster should be placed against the end of the stack of paper.
  • Do not put more than 100 sheets of 75 g/m2 paper (or a 1/2-inch stack) in the paper tray.
  • Do not keep more than 50 sheets in the OUT tray.
  • Do not use paper longer than 356 mm (14 inches).
  • Do not mix paper types in the paper tray.
