Is it asking for a Compaq emergency boot disk? If it is then you would have to contact Compaq company for them to ship one to you.

If it's asking for a Windows emergency boot disk. You can download from here: http://www.bootdisk.com

If it's asking for a emergency boot disk that is created by a program you installed into windows. Then you need to create the boot disk from that corresponding program.

Hope that helps... if it doesn't please comment back. And be more specific, as in what exactly is stated on the screen?

My computer is asking for a boot disc?

It is asking for a boot disk because it cannot find a bootable device...in other words, your hard drive's boot sector is likely damaged.

you will need a Windows disk for your OS to repair this.

Its asking for an install disc i dont got and also i know the info is all there cause just befor that i was logged in but the viruse i took out took the boot info or some thing with it and i cant get on it...

reboot the machine and keep pressing F11 repeatedly until the Windows 7 system restore process start.
Choose a full restore, and it'll be right back to factory (like it was when it was brand new)

This should work as long as you never erased the recovery partition on the hard disk!

Sounds like you boot menu has been corrupted the disk that its asking for is a windows intallstion disk if you have it I would put it in your cd drive boot from the disk and select repair. Please carify your operating system.

You more than likely will have to reformat due to a corrupt system...I would try first going into safemode (unless i misunderstood ) and to to start, run type "msconfig" and then go to startup tab....uncheck anything you just installed....caution: if you dont know what it is is...windows/system then dont uncheck it because that will actually cause the error you describe. Or try un-installing what you recently install in safemode. if you cant access safemode then use the recovery mode to recover the system files...usually the computer will ask for the windows XP cd. good luck...hope this helps

I want to boot from cd to change windows from xp to 98

enter the bios set up on start up. Go to boot sequence, change 1st option to cdrom instead of main drive. Save and exit. Let it boot up, put 98 disk in cdrom. Shut down, reboot and win 98 installation will begin asking you to over write existing ops sys. Choose yes and the install should be a breeze after this. Once xp is installed, dont forget to return to the bios and change back your boot sequence to hard drive as primary /master.

Flashes off mode but nothing else then just turns off

Well Jim I hate to say it but you have to Install a fresh copy of Windows or Mac, what ever you have installed. The problem lies with your Boot Section, your computer can't read the sequence required to run your system. If you have an Installation disk for your windows or what ever, it will read that when you Re-Boot and take off from there. Sadly, if you have files you need to keep their lost unless your System Disk will let you repair instead of installing a fresh copy of windows. That should do the trick. If you don't use your windows disk, you have to have some type of Bootable Disk to read from. Good Luck.
