Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

Page 43 of your manual, found here suggests both E05 and E06 errors mean the issue is related to "...(the) fuel supply, thermal regulator, check for correct orifices, etc...". It also touches on the possibility that if the unit was converted from NG to PP or vice-versa that the orifices are not correct.

Start with these two areas...if you need additional assistance please comment to this answer with details from what you find while checking these areas and I'll try and help you from there.

E05 code

e05 error code means shorted stack flu switch or sensor. oder heaters have the switch, newer heaters have the sensor. make sure you know which one you have before ordering a replacement.

Pentair minimax e05

Try changing the "stack flu sensor". It could be the sensor is bad or the sensor could be detecting a bigger problem. The sensor can not be jumped out.

I have a Pentair 40,000 BTU pool and spa heater. It comes on and then shuts off in about a minute with an error code appearing in the readout. The error code is E05. What does this mean?

The heater is trying to light but cannot. Either the igniter is broken or you are not getting any gas to the igniter. Check to make sure your gas valves are on.

Pentair Minimax CH Propane Millivolt Ignition Heaters error E05 what is it?

If you are firing, and then going off and getting an E05, your igniter is to blame. It may be glowing but it's getting weak. The diagnostic goes further but that is usually the fix.. With inactivity, the igniter is always to blame. You really need to fire it off weekly to make it reliable and make sure that your heater is serviced at least one time a year to keep all the internal components operating as designed.

E05 error message & Service light on What does this mean? Is it something that can be fixed easily?

E05 is Ignition / Flame Failure in this model.
The most common cause of this is a bad ignitor, but can also be a bad flame sensor or ignition module.
Here is a link to the original manual with a very good service and troubleshooting section to accurately describe how to do this. I will put a simpleanswer on here, but it might be neccessary to do some reading too.

Turn off power to heater.
remove both front doors to compartment
Turn on power to heater.
Make sure the mode is set to pool/spa on.
turn temperature up to desired
within 30 seconds the fan should come on.
once the "thermostat" light comes on in the front LCD then pay attention to the ignitor

The ignitor should now be glowing. (if ignitor dosent glow, repeat this process and use a multimeter to ensure power is getting to the ignitor)ignitor part number is 471602

after 30 more seconds you should hear a little "pop" coming from the gas valve.
This is the gas valve opening to try to ignite. If the ignitor is working and the burner ignites, and then goes off with an E05 code, then this would indicate a bad flame sensor (part number 471603)

in rare cases, this code can be tripped by a lose wire on either of these parts.
The parts diagram in the manual on pages 33-34 will help to guide you where to look for these parts. It is always best to familiarize yourself with the heater before work is done.

I have a Pentair Mastertemp 250 pool heater with an error message E05. What does this mean?

This is an ignition flame falure code. Could be you don't have gas getting to the pilot, no spark to ignite the pilot or your ignition is not reading the flame. Sorry to say but it's probally time to get the pool guy out to look at it. Good luck.

Get power, smell gas, no ignition, E05 error message

I am not sure if resetting the heater will work, or not, but it is worth a try! What you should do is open the right hand side door, find the POWER toggle switch and turn that off. Then find the Circuit Breaker for the heater and turn that off. Wait about 15 to 20 minutes, the reverse the order- Circuit breaker on, then the heater on. Try and start the heater.

If the error code comes back, check to see if there is glowing of the element. If not, turn over the Display Panel, there are Diagnostic Lights on the backside of the panel. If there is a light on next to a set of letters, that is whta is causing the issue with the heater.

Hope this helps!

Code E05

E05 and E06 is the error codes for a faulty stack flue sensor. try changing the sensor first is the cheapest. if that doesn't work check for corrosion on control board in which case will have to change out board.
