Testimonial: "I recall while reading the literature in the manual there was an area about shutting the heater to off, wait 5 minutes, and re-lite the pilot. It was shut off overnight, I re-lit the pilot in the morning, after indicating it was on I rotated the thermostat and the heater burner came on. 2 days have passed now and everything is acting normal! It wasn't necessary to replace the thermostat (part $120+) Big relief. Thanks to those that took the time to reply."

A/C recharged and thermostat replaced, now engine over heats in first 20 minutes of use. After 15 minute "cool down", engine runs fine and in normal temp. zone.

check that there is no air lock in the cooling system
check if the thermostat was installed with the body of the unit facing the block and not the hose

Heat Pump - blows heat to set temp, then off, then kicks on to blow cold

Heat pumps defrost which is the AC mode, if the heat strip isnt working during a defrost, the air will be cold, A heat pump only feels warm if the heat strips are on too! the refrigeration cycles heat output is much less sensible to our 98F skin. heat pumps that satisfy a room setpoint are working at least, all heat pumps feel drafty to most.

Honeywell Thermostat RTH6350 makes heat run in AC mode after AC runs

Well, if it wasn't doing that before then you more than likely know its in your wiring. Cools down then heats back up sounds like the auto change over is on, and the heat setting is higher than the cool setting?

Our PFS22MISBWW fridge and freezer are the same temperature as my kitchen inside. Its around 4 years old. I've unplugged it, cleaned it out, vacuumed out the back bottom area, and waited 20 minutes...

Your nicely detailed and well worded question gives all the clues needed to suspect that the
compressor motor is effectively dead. What's happening is that the motor (correctly) receives input
from the control circuitry of the frig to turn on (to cool the interior of the frig) - it turns on, quickly
overheats (within a minute or two), and then the motor's thermal shutoff kills the overheating
motor (with a "click"). Then the motor cools for awhile, the thermal cutoff eventually resets
and allows current to the motor, which tries to run again, but quickly overheats again, etc.

A restricted coolant flow (clogged radiator, collapsed hose, etc.) or improperly functioning cooling fan(s) can cause the computer to disable the air conditioner compressor so as to reduce the heat load on the cooling system. What does the indash temperature gauge indicate? Is it running hotter than normal?

Make sure the radiator is full (you mentioned changing the thermostat, did you bleed any trapped air) and make sure you're getting power to the fan(s). Make sure you don't have a blown fuse in the underhood fuse box. If one is blown, you also need to find out why it blew in the first place.

If you check all of this and nothing comes up out of the ordinary, take the vehicle to a radiator shop for further checking.

Good luck!

Sounds like you have a defrost safety thermostat not opening when the temp comes up on defrost. These can be solid state or the standard kind have a bi-metal switch. and if its solid state there is a check out procedure for it. Id need to review my manuel not many GE's around here.
