Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

I'm trying to pull the fan drive of my vacuum so I can get to the motor but Ican not seem to get it off. I was wondering if there is a release switch or something that is preventing me from doing this. Also the motor seems to be burning but I think it's because ther is something in there clogging it up.

The handle release pedal wasn't allowing the handle to lower. I took off the pedal and saw the spring load part was broken. What is this part and how to replace it? Bissell 3760-3 handle release

Order Slider Release (7.93, vacpartswarehouse) Pull off 'tank.' Remove 3 Screws for Foot Detent Lever. Pull off. Remove old slider release and spring (verify it's broke.) Replace with new. I just did this today after a year of dealing with it.

Release button jammed

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14 Animal. If the release button seems to be jammed, you might want to try pulling the wand upwards and away from the cleaner with a little more force than usual, whilst holding the release button down firmly. Make sure you're not standing directly over the handle as you do this. If this doesn't free the wand, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly so we can provide further assistance. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

Dear sirs, I have a Dyson DC25 and a DC24 (small one),both very new. On both of them it seems to be very difficult to release the upright into using position using the red foot release bar to bring it...

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your Dyson cleaners. In both cases, you should be able to recline the cleaners easily into the vacuuming position by depressing the stabiliser pedal and lowering the handle. As you do this, the stabiliser should retract automatically.

If you're concerned that your cleaners don't seem to be doing this correctly, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and recommend the best course of action. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). We'll look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

I was vacuuming and the vacuum just stopped running. The cord is fairly new so I know it isn't that. Any suggestions?

Sometimes when the small pipe from the motor fan gets plugged up the motor will overheat. For safety reasons, the motor shuts off. If you able to start up the vacuum later, and the suction is not great, then follow the owner's manual to unplug the hose. It is not difficult, but it does require disassembly of the sweeper part of the vacuum. Make sure that you unplug the machine before you try to make any repairs. I have had to do this myself on occasion when the vac seemed to lose suction power. Another problem might be that you vacuum bag might be too full.

Since you mentioned that the cord is fairly new, I will make the assumption that you replaced the cord. If that is the case, then make sure the cord is unplugged from the wall, and check the connections of the cord to the vacuum. One of the wires might not have been attached properly and worked it was loose. This can happen especially if you pull hard of the cord when vacuuming. Oreck's come with a fairly long cord, but you still have to plug into a socket when you run out of cord.

If either of those suggestions does not work, then I recommend a service call to a local repair center.

SWEEPER STOPPED, WITH A LOUD HUMMING SOUND. THE

Do not turn on again. You have an obstruction in the fan . You will need to remove the motor from the lower housing, dismantle the fan cover and remove the obstruction, possibly replace the fan as well.
The lower housing plate can be removed revealing a set of clamps around the motor hosusing which will in tun release the motor from the base of the vac.

Telescopic duster

Just pull straight up. They're a bit stubborn at first, but there's no real lock or anything in there, so trying to get it to release by twisting or pushing on anything won't help. (I know this because I spent quite some time not wanting to break a customer's duster, so I wasn't willing to just yank, and was coming up with all kinds of crazy theories on how to release it. But yeah, just yank.)

Eureka High filtration Commercial vacuum fan

One of 2 ways, remove the plate on the bottom, the is a clear cover covering the fan. Just unbolt the belt pulley and remove the fan. If there is no cover covering the fan, then you will have to remove the top, take out the 4 screw holding the motor and turn motor over, then you can remove the fan.
