Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

The machine will not perform a wash cycle. It is a Bosch Nexxt 500. The water flows for about four seconds. After a pause, it flows for a few seconds more. Then it sounds like it is entering a normal cycle but the drum does not move. After a few seconds, there is a humming like a stalled motor then it becomes silent. The timing countdown indicator does not change so all this takes less than a minute. I have tried smaller (very small) loads and have cleaned out the pump at the access port (noting found to clean out).

    Hi,

The belt is intact. I went through the start cycle with the back off. The sound I hear is not the motor turning but must be a pump. The motor does not turn at all.

The door seal rubs against the label with the model number and serial number. The serial number is ellegible. The model number, as best I can make it out, is: WFMC3301UC/04

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

The motor isn't seized. It moves quite easily.

    Rick,

There are no error codes showing. No suds. Not a lot of water. Most of the clothes are dry. The water isn't coming for more than four seconds.

Again, the morot isn't seized; it turns very easily.

    Rick,

I don't know if the last reply went through. So I'll reiterate.

The motor turns freely. There are no error codes. There isn't mych water in the tub and no suds.

How do I isolate the motor from the motor controls? Would a technician have to do that diagnosis?

Remove the 2-3 screws along the back of the machine and take the top panel off the unit by sliding the panel towards the rear of the machine and inspect what is happening is the motor actually turning? is there a belt that is supposed to be connected to the motor that wraps around a rear pulley on the back of the tub? most likely you have a belt that is broken on the inside of the unit not looking at your model and serial number atm so unable to bring up the schematic check if the unit has a belt and if its intact and message me back with your finds I await your reply Thanks Rick

the pump is found towards the front panel of the machine the motor is hooked to the bottom of the tub and there is a harness that connects the motor to the motor control box there is a belt that connects the motor to the tub if you spin the pulley you should see the motor spin as well this sounds as if either the motor or the motor control has a fault in your machine are there any error codes showing on your machine at all? If the drum is not turning this is most likely the issue with your unit due to the tub not moving at all and you do have power to the control and also you have water going into the unit and then the water does stop at a certain level on the other hand if you do happen to see an error 4 code this would mean that you would have a blockage in the pump or there are too much suds on the inside of the machine but you have not stated any error codes so I would look further into the motor or the motor control being the issue at hand if you have any further questions message me back I await your reply Thanks Rick

if the motor is not turning at all it is most likely seized you should be able to spin the pulley which would spin the shaft on the motor and would turn the motor as well if not replace the motor Thanks again Rick

sorry i got that the motor was seized maybe from this statement you posted "The motor does not turn at all" either way you can use a multimeter to assure that you are getting power to the motor from the motor control if you are then you are looking at having to replace the motor and also make sure first thing you do is check your connections to the motor control alot of times these end up pulling out when the machine is spining and due to vibration if you have any further questions message me back Thanks Rick

also bosch has these small screens located inside of the water inlet valve that the hoses from your valve plug into if you remove the hose you can also take out the screens these screens are a pain if there is any dirt in them at all the machine will not run in the bottom of the unit or under the top panel there should be a technicians sheet that will allow you to put the unit into diagnostic when you put the unit into diagnostic it will give you an error code and that is how you would tell what the actual issue is do not replace the motor or any other piece until you put the unit through the diagnostic cycle Thanks I await your reply Rick

I replaced the original leaking washer hoses on my Nexxt 500 machine with metal ones. On quick wash cycle, water does not flow at all. Does the Bosch Nexxt 500 require OEM hoses only for water flow?

A hose is a hose is a hose. Type of hose won't make any difference.
If you can, try to do a wash cycle that allows you to see if both the hot and cold water are working. You may have loosened a wire connection to one of the valves for the hot or cold when you connected the new hose, or possibly there was something inside the new hose that is now blocking one of the valves.

On the regular cycle for Bosch Nexxt 500 series, during the warm or hot cycle the washer interrupts the cycle with error code "E02" and stops washing . . . how can I fix this? I've made sure the door is...

If the unit is fed by both hot and cold it is possible that the single hot valve or one side of the double cold valve is not operating. Maybe a silly question but could one of the taps have been turned off inadvertently?
The other possibilty is that the pump filter or outlet hoses are blocked and the machine cannot empty the detergent water ready to refill with clean rinse water. To test the cold valve put the w/m on a cold wash cycle, open the drawer and check the water flow. To test the other part of the same valve, put the w/m on the rinse cycle that would take the softener or a wash cycle with prewash. Test hot valve by selecting the hottest cycle usually 90 or 95 degrees, check water flow thru drawer. Hope this helps.

The water won't drain from my Bosch Nexxt 500 Series Washer machine

I solved the problem by using a sump pump to drain most of the water, then I removed the cover plate on the lower front right of the machine to get access to the drain plug. Upon removing that, some water flowed out but not too much, I found a sock jammed in there which wasn't allowing the drain or spin cycle to work properly.

Interestingly, the machine's manual says that the cover plate is only to be removed by a Bosch authorized service repair representative. Saved about $150 by simply doing this myself.
