Question about Janome Memory Craft 9000 Computerized Sewing Machine

2 Answers

I replaced the fuse on my Janome 9000, it now has a lit screen and powers up. The next thing is the embroidery arm rotates around but can't seem to find where it belongs, then the screen gives a message that says "Raise pressure foot and needle bar then turn on power". What do I do next?

I have done this many times and the embroidery arm gets up to the machine base and stutters until the message about raising the pressure foot and needlebar comes back on the screen. Anymore suggestions?

  • Unplug the sewing machine for five minutes an the plug it in again and see if it resets.
  • Make sure you have the embroidery memory card inserted in it's slot.

Sorry I don't. This is the procedure for what your sewing machine is doing. With these new computerized sewing machines they can have internal computer corruption just like a car can from a surge. When you blew that fuse something could have happened internally to your sewing machines computer. You may need to have this addressed by someone who works on this type of sewing machine and see if they can flash the computer again.

Just exactly what it says...what is happening, the fuse must have blown somewhere in between the arm being down and up, and now oyu have replaced it, it is not sure what id won OR up.....the base setting has to RESET.....so turn off the machine, raise the pressure foot and needle bar and turn on the power.......this should rest the machine !!!!

It sounds like either a loose mechanism, or as simple as something binding up at the top of it's stroke......how long have you had the machine ?

Janome 9000 lost all power in the middle of embroidery and won't turn back on.

have you checked to make sure the power cord is plugged into the machine correctly?
is the outlet getting electricity?
if the answer to the above is yes
then it's possible the power cord, motor could have with out
have you checked to see if the sewing machine has a battery compartment
or a fuse compartment?

My Janome memory craft 8000 will only sew backwards and the screen shows step motor error. the machine is 19 years old. Is this fixable?

step motor error may mean the embroidery arm is out of position gently push it back home towards the machine and see if this helps. If the mother board is gone, they will not be able to replace it as its so old, but you may be able to get an 8000 or 9000 on ebayso you can still use your discs if you don't want to get a new machine

I want to sell my 1991 New Home memory Craft 8000 sewing machine

A good place to see what machines are selling for is Ebay. That's where I sold a sewing machine and an embroidery machine.

It helps to know your product and machine embroidery lingo.

What are cassettes? Floppy disks? These make the machine borderline obsolete.

Memory cards are still around, but most EM now have USB connectivity or USB flash drives.

Satin thread? Embroidery machines use Rayon or Polyester embroidery thread.

Having had the machine recently serviced is also a plus.

Every time I hit the start button to perform embroidery, the screen tells me to lower the feed dog - even though it's already down. Is there a way around this?

the sensor must not be working. I thought the 9000 lowered feed dogs automatically when embroidery option is choosen anyway. There is a manual as well as on screen drop feed dogs method for this machine

WHERE IS THE FUSE FOR THE JANOME MEMORY CRAFT 9000? THANK YOU

Remove the top cover by taking the two large screws and the small one under the handle, LHS.

Remove the left side cover. The hidden screw is a 2.5mm allen accessed through the vent.

Lay the machine on its back and remove the four large phillips screws on the bottom and the small screw for the side, paying extreme caution with respect to the embroidery arm.

CAREFULLY move the bottom to the left and out of the way.

Inside the body of the machine you will see a black box held in place by three or torx/slotted screws. Remove the screws and, as you slowly pull the box out MAKE NOTE OF WHICH WIRES PLUG IN WHERE.

The first thing to be checked is the fuse in the bottom of the machine. Have a different dealer do this check. If the screen lights up it is not a burned out fuse. Find an Authorized Janome dealer that you trust and let him check this machine. He is the only one who can get circuit boards from Janome. The machine does have built in diagnostics for some problems.
