If you have ever mowed your lawn when it was wet, you might have formed a clog in the pipes to the clipping catcher. Make sure that the mower is OFF (so you don't chop off your hands) and take a look at the bottom of the mower -- if there is a lot of grass stuck there, you probably have a clog. Clean out the grass from the bottom of the mower, and remove the bag. Make sure that the opening from the base of the lawnmower to the bag is totally clear and give it another shot.
If it is not this, are the clippings just clumping up on the ground as you mow the lawn? or are they being thrown around the yard like they have no direction as to where to go?
If the connection between the mower and the bag are clear, and the grass is just clumping as you cut it, there might be some sort of blockage that you did not notice, keeping the clippings from going where they are supposed to. Make sure you have your bag hooked up properly, and that the clippings have a clear path to the bag. If there is still no love on it, you will probably have to see a repair professional so they can give it a good look (it's tough to resolve complex issues over the internet).
If the grass is not clumping when cut, but is being tossed in all directions instead of being directed to the bag, then you will have to take it in for service -- this would seem to indicate that the mower blades have somehow become distorted and the air flow that you need (to direct the clippings) is not being directed properly. A professional repair person would have to have a chance to see the mower in action to find out what is wrong (once again, it's difficult to fix something you can't see). Good luck ... hopefully it's just a clog (it happens to me all the time).

How to use mulch plug on cordless mower

Mulch plugs are typically a cover that is affixed to the discharge chute of a mower deck. As blades spin, they cut grass, and lift them up into the swirling air above the cut grass and below the mower deck. The clippings are suspended until they are blown out of the chute.

Mulching, is the process where grass clippings aren't simply discharged out of the chute after cutting; rather they are kept under the mower deck and spin around suspended in the blades resulting in repeatedly being cut. Instead of long clippings exiting the chute, much smaller clipping result from multiple cuttings and settle back on to the lawn under the deck. The smaller clipping allows them to decompose much quicker and return nutrients to the lawn.

Long clippings take longer to decompose and can turn into thatch on top of soil between blades of grass - effectively smothering the lawn. Long clippings can sit on top of cut grass and choke off sunlight, etc. and cause dead spots. Thatch can occur with mulching too - but takes longer to accumulate.

I nearly always mulch

I need to installhow to install a new deflector on Craftsman mower model 917273130?

Very simple. The 6 inch or so pin that holds it on is retained by a clip on one end. To remove clip use a pair of pliers. If you work steadily and carefully you will be able to reuse this clip. After removing clip, pull the pin out. Old deflector and spring be removed now. To get the spring right you have to try it in position before installing it. Just remember that the spring is holding the deflector down so when you are done installing, when you pick up on the deflector there is pressure holding it down. Don't put the pin clip on until you verify the spring force is correct because getting that spring clip off is the Hardesty pay off the job.

Toro lawn mower

Looks like you need a special nifty little Ring Clip removal pliers. The 2 pins on the special needle nose pliers go into those 2 little holes on the clip. Then when you squeeze the pliers they clip expands outward. You either need to get the special tool or simulate it with a couple small awl tools or a fax thereof. Tx, Petra

Replacement of mower wheels

You have to pop the clips off the outside of the wheels. There may be a plastic over on each wheel that has to be removed first, but without a model number I'm not sure it your mower has them. If you don't break any of the clips they can be reused.
