Sounds like the carburetor got gummed up with gas being left in it over the winter/not being used in a few months. You may have to take it apart and clean it up with carburetor cleaner, possible the needle and float may have to be replaced, good luck Tim

I have a coleman powermate premium plus 6250 generator, put in new plug ,new filter ,changed oil, cleaned the carb, put in new gas. runs ok at half choke but when go full choke it starts backfiring and runs...

if you are running the engine at full CHOKE, then it is flooding the engine, but if you meant off full choke, then the carb is still stopped up. Try soaking in carb cleaner overnight after removing jet & all rubber goods. HOPE THIS HELPS.

The generator will not start. When I spray Gumout into the carborator, the engine runs for about 2 to 3 seconds then shuts off no matter what position the choke is in. Please advise.

hi, carefully remove the bowl from the carb and clean out any water/rust/dirt etc allow fuel to pass through the carb till it drips out , reattach bowl and leave it for 10 mins then try starting it .
hope this helps

I tried to start my new coleman powermate 6250/5000,

Do check the oil after it has tried to start. Low oil cutoff would certainly cause the problem. Look for the "lost" fuel shutoff valve... there usually is one.

Starts runs a few seconds and stops until primed again.

Make sure the fuel shut off valve is opened and retry - Not the problem?

Next, take the bottom of the fuel bowl off and clean carb and bowl with carb parts cleaner - wait until dry and re-assemble.

HTH, if so please indicate so

I have a coleman powermate generator 5000 in from 2006. Has never been started. I tried to start, filled the oil/gasoline and It would not start. What can I do beside's taking it in for service.

Remove the air cleaner and spray some starting fluid into the carb. If it starts then ok if not then remove the spark plug and check for spark.
Keep posting until its fixed. Give the model number PMxxxxxx.

It starts fine and runs on choke but not off choke

It sounds like you are not getting enough gas. I think it's the diaphragm, When you take it off of the choke diaphragm controls the gas flow, apparently yours is just shutting down. It's very inexpensive, and very easy to replace. Good Luck :)
