the housing for the thermostat should be located just above the transmission as you are facing the car. by the battery. look for the 3inch dia hose that goes from the radiator to the housing. GE

80 series gas dryer starts and runs but wont heat

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems to be the Thermal fuse that has gone bad. The thermal fuse is mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. When this fuse goes bad it should be replaced as it cannot be repaired. You can test it for continuity between its two pins, no continuity means bad fuse. If this is fine then you’ll need to check the thermostat, igniter and coils. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

I cannot get robert shaw theromostat to reset its a 9420 model. I have reset and it goes down in temperature to 45 f degrees i also shut off the circuit breaker. do you think it needs to be replaced. I...

If you are even reasonably good with a screwdriver, you should be able to replace it yourself.
Turn off the breaker, pop off the cover and take off one wire at a time and put it in the exact place it came from onto your new one.
eBay has new RS thermostats for $30 non-programmable.
$60 programmable.
For $280 I'd be willing to try it myself 4X and still save $40.

Can i test a 2 way thermostat on a kenmore 80 series dryer electric by continuity?

Yes If its a bi-metal thermostat you should have continuity when the thermostat is cold. If its open then its bad. The cycle thermostat that has 4 wires going to it also can be tested for continuity but if the thermal fuse (white plastic fuse) is blown it may not be operating properly.

Have a Series 80 electric dryer. No heat, but the blower works. Bought in 1999. Don't know where to start. Would like to do this myself. Any ideas? Thanks

Un plug the machine, check the thermal fuse, located in the rear of the machine behind the back panel. Usual it looks like white plastic with 2 wires on it. you should use a continuity meter and test the thermal fuse with the wires disconected.

If no continuity : the thermal fuse is bad and could have been caused by a blocked vent or bad operating thermostat or it just went out. you will need to replace it.

If you have continuity : you can check the heating element located on the right. remove the wires and test for continuity. If you don't have continuity the heating element is bad and you will need to replace.

There are many other thing that can cause the no heat issue but these are common problems.

230/208 Volt Built-In Room Air Heat/Cool Unit blows cold air, not heat. Unsure if it may be thermostat, if so.. where is it? Another one blew fuse. Where is it located?

To locate the fuse;

1. Turn the power off or unplug the Room Air Heat/Cool unit.
2.Follow the power cord of the unit. This will normally
terminate at the fuse terminal/power reset button., where you can replace the fuse.
3. After the fuse/power reset button terminal the wire
go to a thermostat normally located at the air output
section at the front portion before it goes to the motor
and heating element, while the other wire may connect direct from the fuse terminal to the motor or
heating element.
This is just the basic electrical set up, it can be modi-
fied. Hope this will guide you in locating the fuse and
the thermostat.

There is no heat generating out of my dryer

If you reset your breaker and it does not solve your problem. Your thermal fuse and cycling thermostat both are bad. When your cycling thermostat goes out the dryer cycles on the thermal fuse until it goes out. At that time it stops heating. Replace both. They are located on your element shoot.

My Kenmore 80 series electric dryer won't heat. I

The bottom limit is engineered to open at 250F and the small top one is supposed to open at 300F. The bottom did not have time to click in and so it is considered weak. the kit comes with both thermostats in it Part number 279769

My 1994 Mercedes E class 300 Diesel there is no heat

Check your fuses first.Does the temperature gauge read normal operating temperature (at least 80 degrees Celsius) if not replace your thermostat.  Does the car have any heat while driving at higher RPM's? If so then you have a bad circulation pump. There is also a hot water valve (mono valve) that could be stuck in the closed position and not letting any hot water flow to the heater core.
