Lowrance troubleshooting

Pay attention if depth readings shift during times when moving from spot to spot at higher speeds. If this is the case then you have air bubbles disrupting your sonar signal causing inaccurate readings or a loss of bottom lock for the unit. If over this weeds in shallow water, this at times creates havoc with sonar readings because of the wide variance of signal returns.
check the voltage at the head unit. You should have a minimum of 11.7 volts. 12.5 to 13.5 is optimal
lower power input can affect the overall performance of your unit.

Some how my screen not coming on. The power is coming to the switch but screen not coming on

Without knowing the make and model, I can offer only general troubleshooting tips.

First off, when the machine is powered on, does the CAPS lock light work? If not, 99% of the time it is not getting past POST (Power on Self Test) and is hardware not initializing correctly, or failed. If this is the case, removed battery, unplug power, and hold power key down for 30 sec to discharge any power in the notebook. Connect battery, plug in, try again.

If the CAPS lock light works, tilt the screen towards a light source (will have to move around quite a bit) and look for a faint image on screen, if you see a faint image, the screens back light is not working, which could be many things (bad connection, inverter for CCFL lamps, bad voltage regulator for LED back lights, etc).

If you feel comfortable, you can try reseating memory, hard drive, wireless card, etc. essentially all the easy to get to components. You can also try deducing it, but removing one at a time...

Hope this helps steer you in the right direction

Good Luck!

Lexmark all in one x5100 series begins to print then stops with"hardware error message 0502

This is copied out of Lexmark's KnowledgeBase, just so you know I'm not coming up with this off of the top of my head. Go to www.lexmark.com and click Support > Technical Support, and then search for ID: ENUS22800 if you would like to see the original, complete with pictures. Or, here's a text version:

The 0502 error can have any of four possible causes:

- A faulty black/photo cartridge
- A faulty color photo cartridge
- A dirty encoder strip
- The encoder strip being out of position
The steps below will help you to identify and resolve each of these four issues.

1. Turn the printer off and disconnect the power cable from the back of the unit.

2. Open the printer's front cover.
Pinch the top of the carrier belt and gently move the cartridge carrier to the center of the printer.

3. Remove both of the cartridges.

4. Move the cartridge carrier over to the left-hand side of the printer using the carrier belt.

5. Gently clean the encoder strip with the cloth.

6. Move the cartridge carrier back to the right-hand side of the printer using the carrier belt.

7. Reconnect the power supply and turn the printer back on.

8. Perform the printer hardware test. Instructions on how to do this are here: http://support.lexmark.com/perl/support/support.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:483:0:0&docid=ENUS3744
