Question about KitchenAid Dishwashers

1 Answer

KitchenAid dishwasher 8524569 touchpad not working. I can press the canel button and the pump motor will run. Touch it again and it stops. I've tried to reset it by holding the energy saver button for four seconds. The keypad did work once on the last load after I let the cancel button/pump action finish and it stopped. I waited a few hours and it started and ran the full cycle. Now it's doing the same thing.

I can't find the model number anywhere on the net, even on KitchenAid's site. I imagine I need to replace the touch pad but can't if I can't even find a parts breakdown.

  • Maurice Cauley May 29, 2011

I finally found the correct model number KUDI01ILBL2 on the left inside midway the door. You have to watch the Is and ones in the search as there are many like units. I found the parts breakdown.http://www.kitchenaid.ca/assets/pdfs/lit...

I will now go under the house and disconnect the power to reset the console eletronics. I saw that suggestion posted on another answer here so that may help but I doubt it. The dishwasher isn't on it own circuit breaker. I installed and wired the thing myself, that's how I know. If that doesn't work I'll post back.

  • Maurice Cauley May 29, 2011

I did have a breaker after all. I turned it off for several minutes and back on. No change, still doing the same things. It must be either item #11, the eletronic control board or #1 the control panel. Do the repair shops have a tester to test either of these parts to narrow down the problem? Or is it somthing I could test? I can take the panels off and check it if I knew what to check. I have a multimeter and am a 70s trained auto mechanic so I'm no stranger to nuts and bolts and such.

    Thanks!

I found the instruction sheet when I took the kick panel off. I found where it says to press the keys like you said. That is the diagnostic function. It didn’t do anything. What I am concerned about is that on page two of the sheet at the bottom under Diagnostic Notes in note 5 it says that when the diagnostic cycle begins that all the lights should come on but none did. It also says that if this happens to replace the keypad, not the control board. Evidently, I would have wasted my money if I had followed that advice. At this point electronic testing of the keypad and control box is beyond my abilities so I think I'll have to contact a local repairman.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa
First take off the front bottom access panel and clean the drain filter pump assembly completely. After this if the problem returns then press these buttons in sequence for around 4-5 times: high temp wash energy saver dry then high temp wash energy saver dry.....After this wait for 2 minutes, if the problem returns then replace the control board. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Why does my Kitchenaid dishwasher model 8524569 run so long?

It is likely the heater is not working effeciently and takes a long time to heat the water to the set temperature. Try and run the rinse cycle and see if that takes much shorter as this does not need to heat the water. Please provide the full model number- xxx. xxxx or KUD..etc.

Why won't my Kenmore dishwasher display work properly?

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

Heating Element

If lights are flashing on the control panel, the heating element might have burned out. The heating element heats the water up to operating temperature. After a set amount of time if the temperature isn't reached a light on the control panel might start flashing. The heating element can be checked for continuity with an Ohm meter.

Heating Element Assembly

Check Fault Codes

If the display lights are flashing and there is an error code in the display window, check the wiring diagram and tech sheet in the dishwasher that will provide information on the fault.

Drain Pump

If lights are flashing on the control panel, the drain pump might not be working properly. For two-wire drain pump motors check them for continuity using an Ohm meter. If it's defective You'll need to replace it. Drain pumps are not repairable.

Touchpad and Control Panel

If the lights are flashing on the display the entire touchpad and control panel assembly might be defective. If the display works but the dishwasher functions are all out of synch, or some of the buttons don't respond properly the entire touchpad and control panel might need to be replaced.

Touchpad

If the display lights are flickering for no reason, the touchpad might need to be replaced. Sometimes when the touchpad is defective the display lights are flashing randomly.

Buttons on microwave

testing every step and fix it. God bless you see the diagram attached

Microwave Buttons Don't Work
Touchpad and Control Panel

If the microwave buttons don't work the touchpad and control panel assembly are probably defective.
Touchpad

If the microwave buttons don't work the touchpad might be at fault. Generally speaking, if the dishwasher display is working and some of the buttons respond correctly but some don't, the problem is with the touchpad.
User Control and Display Board

If the microwave buttons don't work the user control and display board are most likely defective and will need to be replaced. If some of the buttons work and some don't, it is more likely a touch pad problem and the touch pad will need to be replaced.
Main Control Board

If the microwave buttons don't work the main control board is most likely defective and will need to be replaced. If some of the buttons work the touch pad is likely the problem. If none of the buttons work the problem may be in the main control board.1_24_2013_5_23_47_pm.gif1_24_2013_5_24_54_pm.jpg

On kitchen aid dishwasher, control lock is blinking and preventing the use of any other execute buttons. Can't start a wash .

Which model KitchenAid dishwasher do you have? On some models, the Control Lock can be toggled on/off by holding the Energy Saver Dry touch pad for at least 4 seconds or until the Control Lock light turns on or off.

On another model, the touch pad to press and hold is the 4 Hour Delay button. (On that model, you press and hold for 3+ seconds.) There is often a very tiny label below or on the touchpad indicating which key controls the Control Lock.

If you haven't held the button for long enough, pressing the other touch pads will lead to the Control Lock light blinking 3 times if the Control Lock is active.

If the press and hold method still doesn't work after several attempts, then you may have a problem with the control panel. The dishwasher may need repair.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the model number so that I can check if a different touch pad key is the correct one for the Control Lock.

My touchpad doesn't work on my aspire one D255 netbook. The wireless mouse works but the touchpad doesn't respond to any touch. How can I make the touch pad work? Is there a function?

Hi!

If the touchpad worked well before and suddenly doesn't work any more, it is most likely it was stopped by pressing the key combination FN F7. To be sure please press the same combination again and check if it works.

If it still not work, please check if the touchpad drivers are installed on you netbook.
To do so, please open device manager. (opening the device manager could be done in more different ways, e.g. click START button and, depending on your operating system enter devmgmt.msc in the Run box for windows XP or in the Search programs and files box in windows 7).
Now, under mice and other pointing devices you should find your touchpad.
If the touchpad is not listed in device manager, drivers for it have to be installed.
Drivers for your netbook's hardware are on the acer support page.

Hope it helped,

Bogdan

Did you try turning off the power and then connecting it again?
If still problem is there open the door. Press the following sequence of buttons HI Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry,HI Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry. Now close the dishwasher door and latch it too and press the cancel button. This must reset the dishwasher.

Kitchen Aid Dishwasher

Hi bluepanther,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: You have a Kitchen Aid Dishwasher that has a light on saying CONTROL LOCK,of which when on you can't do any wash cycles. You tried doing canel out,but no help. What can you do to get off so can use unit?? Is there a reset button underneath that will reset unit.you are very mechanical and can pull unit apart if needed....Thanks Scott

Should not be nessessary. The lock is for keeping playfull little hands from getting into trouble. You must have inadvertently activated it. Try pressing and holding the "heated dry" button. This should deactivate the lock after about six seconds. This same procedure will reactivate it should you feel the need.
