Question about Intel Motherboard

1 Answer

Hello. I have a GA-945PL-s3 and when i boot up, it does not detect keyboard, mouse and monitor any more. what may the problem be? i have recently installed a cooler for the processor given the fact that the processor was constanlty overheating. that's when the problem started. however, i have replaced the custom cooler with the old one, but the problem still persists. During the install i was pretty careful not to destroy anything .

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error even something as small as a faulty electrical extension or fan lead can cause this problem

follow the troubleshooting procedure a computer needs all of the data and electrical current to travel through every device and to have an end to be able work properly

a motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail check all electrical extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working also it could be a dirty computer clean all of the dust from your computer you could use a vacuum cleaner but whatever you use make absolutely sure there is no moisture gets to anything in your computer and before you touch anything be sure to wear an earth strap hope this helps

Gigabyte GA-965GM-S2 motherboard keyboard, mouse, monitor won't work.

You need all the drivers, each peripheral has it's own driver that needs to be loaded.

The maximum hard drive you can install depends upon the BIOS. You MAY BE able to install a larger hard drive if the BIOS upgrade will allow it. I suggest you go to the Gigagyte WEB site to check on this possibility.

Gigabyte GA-945P-S3 short beep codes on cold boot. Tried reseating RAM, didn't help. system runs fine after beeping stops

Using the manual for the Gigabyte GA-945P-S3 MB. Go to page 71 & you'll see bios beep codes for your board: AWARD BIOS Beep Codes 1 short: System boots successfully 2 short: CMOS setting error 1 long 1 short: DRAM or M/B error 1 long 2 short: Monitor or display card error 1 long 3 short: Keyboard error 1 long 9 short: BIOS ROM error Continuous long beeps: DRAM error Continuous short beeps: Power error As you can see there isn't a code for three short beeps. When you boot your system try to pause your boot up screen. See if the bios is reporting the correct total of memory in your system. Bios codes from the link below. http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm#05 3 beeps for the AMI bios code reports Base 64K RAM failure. You can test your memory. Go to memtest.org Scroll down the site to just under the three screen shots. Download Memtest86+ V2.11 You have a choice in making a bootable floppy disk or a bootable CD-ROM disk. Once completed you boot your system to the testing program. Memtest will check your system memory. This should help. Thanks for using FixYa! Mike

Hi,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

It would seem that the documentation where you sourced the info S-Series Ultra Durable Motherboard. 945PL-DS3/S3 (rev.2.0) is intended for a number of different models. From what I can gather, you have a Giga-byte motherboard either a GA-945PL-DS3, GA-945PL-S3 or a GA-945PL-S3E all Rev. 2.0.

Assuming that it is a 945PL-DS3 (rev. 2.0), then the audio driver would be "Realtek Function driver for Realtek Azalia audio chip (Including Microsoft UAA Driver)". Pls verify if it were so.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Monitor shut off, no BIOS post, no keyboard or mouse lights, will not boot

The best thing to do in this situation is to build your machine outside of the case, using the minimum amount of hardware,
Remove the motherboard and using only one stick of ram, the monitor, keyboard and mouse. short the power switch connector on the motherboard with a screw driver for a fraction of a second just to power it on.
If it starts up and gives you a "no boot disk" or "no Operating System found" at least you will know it's working and you can slowly connect everything else one by one to see whats preventing it from booting.
If it doesn't start like that, remove the power cord from the power supply and remove the mother board battery for at least 15 minutes, this will clear the BIOS and set it back to factory spec, now carryout the out of case procedure already stated.

Try another (Known good monitor). Or try you're monitor on another system.
Remove all memory except 1 DIMM. Double check all data cables (internally) & power cables. Remove the added video card. Try booting the system. Watch for the case LEDs to flash/blink, listen for hard drive spin up /cd-rom spin up. Lastly pull the battery & check with a volt meter. Bios battery should test no less than 3 volts. Post the correct MD rev.
