When printing Glossy paper 260gsm, on my HP 4280, the paper appears to be slipping in the feed roller and the image prints too far down the page. Any ideas ??

My thanks to jigsawbill, as he helped me eliminate one possible answer. In fact, what I had not realized was that changing the paper type, altered the weight of the paper acceptable. Trial and error I'm afraid if using paper other than HP.

HP solutions does not mention this nor indeed did HP upon my enquiry.

Take the back cover off, and you will see the feed rollers in there. Use a soft cloth and some all purpose cleaner and gently clean the rollers, not too much liquid on them, lat dry and clean again for couple or three times. You feed rollers have become soiled and are slipping on your paper. I have three hp printers and this must be done every couple months or so. I think I found these instructions on hp.com if I remember right.

Why when I select Glossy in the print settings, the print shifts?

Run this paper from the bypass tray located on the right hand side of the machine.
Try setting that paper type on the copier itself.
Load the paper. Go to the manual paper tray select screen. Select tray 1 and then change paper settings.
Glossy paper also tends to slip in these machines when the paper tray rollers are bad.

I am using Premium Kodak Photo Paper and selecting photo paper in the preferences which I have used successfully before, but have just started having trouble. It started by printing a dark band more than...

Hello. By the sound of it the paper is slowing down at the point were the dark band is. If you can pay close attention to the speed of the paper the entire print. If is appears to slow down, then feeds out correctly, there are two things to look for. The Paper could be sticking in the tray at that point or the rollers are loosing grip. It can also be a combination of both. Make sure no ink or dust has built up in the rollers and also make sure you dont overload the paper feed tray. This increases the bend of the paper through the rollers and can cause them to slip.
Other than this the rollers can be re-set or replaced but it is normally not economical to do so.
I hope this helps Regards GM

4x6 glossy postcards feed through slipping

Make sure that the paper meets the specifications for use in your printer.

The paper you are trying to use may be to heavy to be moved correctly through the paper path.

HP 6940 rejects 8.5" X 11" glossy photo paper for printing

Is it a front feed and then the output is also goes out to the front? Coz if your glossy paper is to tough that it will not bend easily, this is what you get. Why not try to use a thin and more flexing photo paper if the outcome will be the same.

Usually when using thick paper the most desirable printer should be a top feed-front output with almost less than 90 degree bend.

Dx8400 will not take 260gsm photo paper

Maximum thickness allowed in this printer is 250gsm for Premium Glossy, therefor the paper appears to outside the specification of the machine. Only answer is use slightly lighter paper.

It is not grabbing the paper to print

it could be from the material you are using, maybe too glossy, or the paper feed roller itself is dirty,yo can clean this first w damped cloth, thats why t is slipping, or the lead edge of your paper is somehow bended, crumpled, pls make sure you check this things.

Samsung CLP-300 dark prints and smears

For starters remember this is not meant to be a PHOTO Printer, I am guessing the Spearing is because Glossy paper does not hold the toner like Regular paper or at least until it is fused. I am a technitiian and i also own this printer.

Your problem seems to be due to worn out of rollers. Try a less glossy paper and you can find the difference.
