2009 Suzuki swift hatchback automatic 40000km and squealing brake noise and engine light is on why?

The two matters are unrelated. The squeaking brakes are because you need new brake pads, if you have new pads... the mechanic failed to use brake shim grease which stops the squeak. In severe cases, the front disc brakes may be scored... scratched deeply and require replacement. If you replace the front disc pads, replace the rear brake shoes as well! The service engine light is timed by your dealer to remind you when to take your car in for a service check. Many models have a sequence of steps that one can find on-line to reset the service indicator light back to re-zero the count.

Why is there Soot on front alloys

Approximately 3/4 of your car's braking ability comes from the front brakes, therefore that's why there's more brake dust on the front than you do the rear. That dust you see is the brake pad material coming off.
If you don't want as much dust, you can have your brake installer install Ceramic Brake Pads, such as Akebono Ceramic Brake Pads.
They are a high quality pad, that lasts a long time, with hardly any dust.
Hope this helps!

Change front pads on ford focus 2009 model

The 2009 Ford Focus seems difficult to install the non-caliper side brake disk due to integral springs on the pad steel backing. Looks like the outer cage of the brake, the part that straddles the rotor, needs to be removed for pad installation, then reassembled onto the caliper system with brake pads installed. Haven't attepmted this yet, but it appears to be the only alternative given geometric constraints. This is a lot more difficult than other front disk brake systems where the pads virtually slip right into place.

Squeeky brakes and tire maitanence light on. I only have 32000 miles on my 2009 murano.

first check your discs and pads to see if pads are worn down or there are any score marks on the disks, also the metal antivibration shims in front of the brake pads for wear and tear.check tyres for wear wrong tyre preasures/unballanced, and steering problems can cause exesive wear on tyres.

The front caliper has become a bit stiff, i.e. it doesn't release so easily. How do you loosen them?

Make sure your brake cable isn't binding in the housing. Try detaching the cable from the brake and making sure that the cable moves freely in the housing. If it doesn't try lubing it at both ends and if that doesn't work, replace the cable and housing and prelube the cable while installing it. While you have the cable off flex the brake arms to see if they return easily. Try applying a bit of lube to the pivot point. Apparently the front brake is supposed to be stiffer to prevent your front wheel from locking up. Let me know if this helps.
