Question about Sub-Zero MW24 Microwave Oven

Open Question

Wolf Microwave MWC24 manufactured Jan 2006. After using convection recently, when attempting to use microwave afterwards, no platform spinning and no microwaving, just light and countdown. Tried to reboot by ******** fuse and turning on again but no luck. I have heard a lot of people on internet having similar problems, except earlier. Apparently microwaves all operate similarly, yet other brands seen to have much fewer problems. I like many consumers feel helpless in the face of a possible $300 service call to replace a $15 part which retails for $100. I seldom used the convection but maybe this is the culprit. Any way to try to reprogram before calling service? I live zip 07649..who is best for this in the area?

SOURCE: My wolf mw24 microwave won't come on. I set the

The problem is in the door switch.... when the door is tightly closed the switch is not making contact but if you push that button and the door opens just a bit then the switch makes contact and it works....

If you can get a new door switch for that and replace the door safety switch then it will work for you...

Wolf MWC24 turns on and spins. Does not heat on microwave or convection. Any ideas?

The Wolf DCM24 is a rebranded Sharp, similar to the Sharp model R-930AK, etc.

The Sharp version service manual is here, and while cosmetic parts won't interchange, internal ones will.

The problem you have is usually caused by a bad bottom door switch, or that switch's mount may be loose, misaligned, or broken.

See my help info on door switches here and here.

Once you look all this over, if you have other questions, please feel free to contact me by e-mail here.

Please include FULL model number*, FCC ID number*, + detailed symptom information. ( * on the tag in cooking cavity or around door frame or control frame or on back)

Can't open up back of wolf microwave mwc24

Some models use an tamper-resistant screw which can be removed with a specially-designed tool available from home improvement stores & appliance parts stores. But some folks just use a hammer to tap and loosen the screw, then a "star", t-type, or small flathead screwdriver can be used to remove the screw.

Sometimes the screws are tough, so you may only be able to just bend the center post slightly with a punch, then a small flat blade will "grab" enough to turn the screw. Pliers on the handle will help, too.

Another creative solution is to use a hacksaw or a Dremel tool to carefully cut a slot in the head so a flat blade will fit it.

Once the anti-tamper screw is out, it can be discarded and replaced with a standard screw.

NOTE: Always be sure to put any silver-colored cover screws back in the same holes they came from. They are often used to ensure a good safety ground from the cover to the chassis!

Wolf convection microwave

see the next steps , use the VOM and fix it. God bless you

  1. Check the power diodeThis electronic component is responsible for transmitting current in one direction. If the diode becomes defective it will cause your microwave to not heat. Test the diode and replace it if necessary.
  2. High voltage capacitorResponsible for storing electricity, this part is a key component in any microwave. Remove, discharge, and test the capacitor to determine if it requires replacement.
  3. Damaged magnetronResponsible for generating waves and producing heat. When your microwave is no longer heating properly, replacement will be required.
  4. Thermal CutoffsExamine the thermal cutoffs on both the magnetron and the oven itself. Take off one of the leads and using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check the terminals. If you get a result other than zero, replace the thermal cutoffs.

Microwave plate turner keeps spinning even with door closed and microwave turned off

My microwave is doing this as well; It's a frigidaire model #FGMV154CLFA.

After using the microwave part (it is also convection), the light stays on in the microwave and the turner keeps turning.

And I've only used the convection part of my microwave a couple times and I'm not sure if I was successful. While trying to cook something in convection mode, I pressed convection, then pressed the temp i wanted, then convection, then keyed in the time I wanted the item to cook. The microwave started and the timer started counting down but the countdown stopped with 8 minutes left? I left it alone to see what would happen and it never finished so I restarted the process again.

PS..I've never gotten an error code

Cooking in an old convectional microwave

Regardless of the model, the basic procedure should be the same in most Sharp convection models.
