Question about Samsung Cell Phones
Before you decide what to do, you have to understand the basic concepts of how these devices work. You have two different types of memory on your device, this is the virtual and real memory. The real memory and virtual memory both affect the performance of the phone is similar ways. The main work of the virtual memory is to keep opened applications running while that of the real memory is to store data.
It is important for you to know that when you open more than one application at a time(maybe minimizing one over the other) it increases the amount of virtual memory been used up and this gives the device more work to do and data to process simultaneously as both programs would have to be kept running just like you want. In some cases, the device might even close those applications with very low priority if it discovers that the level of virtual memory remaining is very low. In summary, the more applications you leave opened would often determine how frequent your phone hangs and also determines the response speed.
Similarly, on the real memory, the more data you seem to save, the more space it takes up on this memory. This gives the device more work to do as it would need to process more data as you would wish to want it to. This includes making all your pictures, music and videos or documents appear in the memory. Also, it gets to a point where the memory becomes really full and may cause the phone to hang for a while so as to load up all data.
With the knowledge of this, you can prevent your phone from hanging by closing applications that are not been used and by deleting files that are also not in use. These files could include games and other multimedia items. Also try to see the maximum capacity of the memory card your phone is allowed to operate with because if you are using a memory card bigger than the maximum, it might work but cause such things to happen. If this does not work out, then you can proceed to formatting the phone as some hidden files may be causing it to hang.

The phone has hung up because there are errors in the software. So to reset remove the battery and the memory card from the phone. Using your PC , scan the memory card for any corrupt files or media files with virus- it is possible when they are downloaded from unsafe sites. If so remove or format the card. Copy only valid files to the card and do a scan before it is replaced. Now replace the card and battery and switch on the phone. If the phone hangs up or is slow when it is switched ON , then it is confirmed that the software has errors and will need a reinstallation.
Seeking help from the authorized service /support centre is most ideal. Take estimate and decide.
