I put a new hard drive in my machine, and cannot access internet because it says this machine doesn't have any installed network adapters. How do I install?

Hello, presumably you've reinstalled Windows after fitting your new drive. Well, you have to find all the drivers for your machine including the chipset drivers (importantly you must install these 1st)) then your system will 'see' the adapter. If you don't have your driver cd's, then you must go to the web site of Acer (obviously from a machine that can access the internet!) and download all the relevant drivers to a memory stick or burn 'em to a cd, then install them onto your own system. I am not able to connect to the internet. Error : network adapter

Check for the network adapor status. You wont be able to connect to internet if its status is 'unplugged'. Check your cable from modem.

OR check for the network adapter driver is installed properly in device manager

I installed my enGenis eub9707 mini wreless n usb adaper, and I have local connectivity but not internet. Not sure what to do. Help!

Your problem it seems to be a router problem. If on router side, you have enabled the access protection based on devices MAC addresses, then you must add the new adapter's MAC address into the router's MAC list with allowed devices that are able to reach the internet. For this, you must enter into your router admin settings via http and go to the security section and update the MAC list with allowed devices by adding your new adapter's MAC address. On my router, if I must permit to a new device to go to internet, I have two sections to update: "Wireless->MAC Filtering->Update allowed devices" and the second one is: " Security->MAC Filtering->Update allowed devices "
Good luck!

I re-installed windows without getting my internet files copied and now i have no internet and i use a SMC8014WN router and i have no internet connectivity please tell me what i can do!! i do not remember...

Hello there.

In order for you to be able to use your internet connection again, you need to reinstall your LAN card (Network Adapter). You didn't mention the brand and model of your LAN card.

Go to Control Panel / Device Manager / Network Adapters and check if it is installed there properly. If it has errors update it's drivers. If you can't find it there, search your system for New Hardware or Scan hardware changes.

Hi,

Improve the Fixya.com experience for everyone by voting!

The solution I'm suggesting works in my business (LAN installations) about 95% of the time. I trust that it will work for you.

Let's see if I can help you.

Begin by turning on your computer and your router

? Make sure your service provider has activated your account and services on the subscribed line. Please check with your service provider to confirm this.
? Make sure that you are using the latest drivers. You can download the latest driver from Driver Downloads Database.
? Make sure that you have entered the right username and password (case-sensitive) as given by your service provider. For example, in Australia: user@bigpond; in NZ: [email protected].
? Open Internet Explorer;
? Click on 'Tools';
? Click on 'Internet Options';
? Click on 'Connections';
? Click on 'Setup'
? Click on 'I want to set up my Internet connections manually . . .';
? Click on 'Next';
? Click on 'I connect through a local area network (LAN);
? Clock on 'Next'
? Click on 'Next' [This is not an error];
? Click on 'No';
? Click on 'Next';
? Click on 'To connect to the Internet immediately . . .; and,
? Click on 'Finish'.

That should have you online. However, if it doesn't get you on line, do the following: Click on tools again. Click on 'Diagnose Connection Problems' and follow the instructions.

The last choice is to use the Setup Wizard. It seldom works for me but you might more luck than poor me. Here are the instructions:

The Connect to the Internet wizard will guide you through the steps of setting up an Internet connection.

Open the Connect to the Internet wizard by:

• Clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button
• Click on Control Panel.
• In the search box, type network,
• Click "Network and Sharing Center"
• Click Set up a new connection or network
• Then double-click "Connect to the Internet".

All the best

Ben
