Question about Xerox Phaser 6120/YN Laser Printer

3 Answers

Model: Xerox Phaser 6120. We are receiving an error message which reads: Cyan Toner Cartridge Missing. This is a new cartridge and the printer had been running smoothly. I ran out a 12 page document and when I tried to print out the second 12 page document, the error popped up. The printer had not been touched between the jobs, nor has anyone done anything to it after we replaced the Cyan Toner Cartridge two days before. We have tried another new Cyan Toner Cartridge, but the same message appears. Willie

Afraid this didn't work. Have tried it and this was the first thing that I tried. As it state in the post that I changed to another new toner cartridge and that didn't work. Anything else?

  • wfjones May 29, 2011

All metal contacts have been checked and are dry and clean. Besides what does that have to do with anything. This is a networked printer, and PC stable is of what value? Do you have a solution for this problem or not?

Afraud, that's not it at all. Have ensured that the correct toner's are in the right place. Listen, the simple issues that you are discussing aren't relevant in this situation. I have done everything but slam the thing on the floor. Nothing seems to work to correct the problem. Need help.

No, your last attempt at a solution did not work. Do you have anything else?

Hello.

Since you replaced the cartridge, the problem could be a faulty actuator. This problem should be resolved by a service tech in your area.

Hope this helps.

Hi there,

How many cartridge does the printer have? if there is a cartridge that's the same as the CYAN please try swapping them and check if the error message will disappear.

Try doing a Power Cycle, remove all the cartridges turn the printer off for about 2 minutes turn it back on and put the cartridges back when the printer asks for them.

Hope this takes care of the problem!

    Hi there,

This problem may happen randomly with any toner.
Open the printer, the "missing toner" should be the one to check.
The slot where you put the cartridge in should have contacts, try cleaning those contacts and check if it will work.

(Not sure if the location is right but check this instruction)

On the right side of the toner, above and to the right of the label, you will see a small green board with three contacts on it.
Just clean these contacts with a moderate cleaning solution (nail polish remover will do).

    Hope this helps!

Hi there.

These toners normally has a metal contact that tells the printer that the toner is there or how much toner is left. Make sure that these contacts are clean and dry and free from any dirt or inks. Use a dry cloth to clean it.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Fixya!

What about the metal contact on the printer itself?

Changing waste container

The is no waste container on Phaser 6500. There is a "waste collection box" in every toner cartridge and the waste toner is discarded along with the empty cartridge. The is also a waste toner reservoir on the transfer belt and this one will be replaced along with the transfer belt.

If there is an error message saying, for example, "Waste Full Cyan Cartridge", it means the waste toner counter reached the replacement value for that color and you have to replace the corresponding cartridge. But the waste collection box is not really full.

We have a Phaser 7400. It continues to give us

If you've already changed out the toner cartridge and the problem persists, then it could be several other parts that are either defective, dirty or blocked.

You may want to contact a certified Xerox technician and have them look at the Imaging Unit Agitator Bar and the Low Toner Sensors for Cyan/Magenta. There could also be a faulty toner supply motor.

Hi,

Please follow the solution in the link below. Also as you putting in the cartridge always check for loose toner in the area and on the cartridge itself as this can block the sensors.

Error message: cyan imaging unit is either missing or unseated

The problem is with the top cover assembly. It could be a few things. I would first try the toner sensor flags(the magnet may not be strong enough to read properly). Also replace the toner cartidge because it's magnet may also have gotten weak. Third, I would try the Toner sensor board.

I have had this problem with many printers and normally it is just the flags because of the weak magnets.
