sorry mate , i misunderstood what u ment when i read the solution.. i think now u mean shut down the system , press f2 which goes to the system boot, ive previously done this myself , not understanding that it was the solution to resetting bios etc.. this means that ur saying that my motherboard is bad , currupt etc and needs replacing , which i didnt know before , so thank u for that info. it helps. at this stage any info helps... like i prev mentioned , at least i now know where to start , eg need to replace the motherboard , or buy new comp , which ever will be the cheapest option... thanks again for the info... i read a fair bit about comp , and have purchased books , im certainly not an expert though... i origionally thaught u ment to leave system on and press f2.. all good but.. thank you for solving my issue and i will effectively fix the motherboard by replacement , or i will simply buy new laptop.... thanks again mate , jamie

Go into the BIOS by pressing F2. Go to the far right menu and in those options you'll see where it says reset defaults. Choose that and then go ahead and press F10 to save and exit.
If your battery still doesn't charge, try another know good working battery. If it still doesn't charge, try a different ac adapter.
At this point if batteries aren't charging then that means your motherboard is bad and it would need to be replaced.

Bios menu password prompt get invalid entry

If its the bios password.

You may try to open-up the case and remove both the laptop battery and the CMOS battery inside to try to reset it to default and see if it gets cleared-up.

Otherwise the best way is to take it to Toshiba service center to resolve the issue as some BIOS are lock totally that they do not rely on the said CMOS battery anymore to store data. So they would need to literally access their ,main board for reset or if worse, it may even come to the need to replace the board itself.

Either way, In today's gadgets I recommend to make sure you have a copy of your passwords for BIOS, System and Log-in for safe keeping all the time.

Toshiba satellite A100 fan not working. how to repair it?

Hi,
you have asked your question two times. Anyway, in case you missed it, this is the answer i gave you in the other question:
"you should verify in your notebook's BIOS that the FAN is turned on. If so,you need to open up your notebook and clean or replace your fan. To do so, you can simply follow this guide: http://www.ehow.com/facts_7895896_disassembly-guide-toshiba-satellite-a80.html . Then, when you have found the broken fan, you should clean it with compressed air and verifiy if that solves your problem. Otherwise, take note of the diameter of your fan and buy a replacement."

Hope it helped,
Franz

My laptop won't turn on even though it's plugged into the recharg

Try removing the battery and running the laptop just on the p/s. If it works like this the battery is dead. Otherwise the laptop has a problem.

If the battery is dead, buy a new battery or run it on p/s alone.

Laptops should be run on battery alone as much as possible, or the battery dies.

Battery

Try resetting the BIOS in case something happened to it.
Power down your computer. Remove the power cord, the rechargeable battery and the BIOS battery. Wait 10 minutes. Reinstall the BIOS battery, the rechargeable battery and the powewr cord. Restart your computer and enter the BIOS setup.

If nothing happens, your video card may have failed.
