Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

The touchpad on my Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 has stopped working. I can no longer use the cursor on the right hand side of the touchpad to scroll up and down the pages. I have got so used to using it that I am really keen to get it back. I think I need to install a driver, however, as I am new to the laptop world, and computers, I don't know where to start. Could someone please send me step by step instructions of what I need to do as I don't have a clue.

I have a dell inspiron 1525 laptop and my cursor jumps when im typing e-mails

If your hands are really warm they don't even need to touch the touchpad in order to move the cursor. You can go into "device manager" and disable the touchpad and just use a wireless mouse instead.

I want to disable the touchpad on inspiron mini 1018 but i cant find how

Hello,
I suggest that you disable the touchpad from the BIOS. To go to BIOS, while your netbook is booting up, start tapping on F2 or Del until you get the BIOS screen. Go through the tabs until you get the Touchpad option and disable it from there. One more option is to go to Control Panel > Mouse > disable it from there.
Hope this helps...

My Dell inspiron mini 10 is just over 1 year old not used very much at all, last week for no reason there is no display on the screen, I tried to reboot on battery power and ac no luck. Thanks Frank.

There are 3 mini 10 models sold by Dell. The Inspiron 1010 (Mini 10), Insprion 1012 (Mini 10) and the Insprion 1018 (Mini 10v). Depending on which model you have, you can try to connect an external monitor and see if you get a display. The 1012 and the 1018 have a 15 pin VGA plug on the left side of the laptop and the 1010 has an HDMI jack for video. If you get a display then your LCD display is bad and needs to be replaced.

The cursor has been stopping while typing on the keyboard keys. Why am I having to mouse click a lot so I can continue typing?

Make sure that you are not placing the hand on the touchpad while typong.... This might be due to the drivers issue with the touchpad.. Try to unistall the drivers of touchpad from the device manager.. Then install a fresh copy from the dell website(www.support.dell.com).. The issue should be fixed...
