The ports are probably blocked with grease. This happened to me - I removed the burner tube and used a steel bristle brush to clean the holes - the clue is to use the brush from front to back/back to front, not from side to side - side to side just moves the grease from one hole to the next. Worked like a charm, thought I would have to buy new burners.

Hello, here is my check list for your most common gas grill lighting problems:

1) Check your tank. Is it empty or nearly empty? The tare weight (T.W.) of your cylinder is stamped on the collar. This is the weight of your empty cylinder, usually around 18 lbs. It's also possible the igniter tip where it sparks has a cracked or broken porcelain portion of the igniter, causing the spark to not arc at the tip where it's supposed to. Replace the igniter piece. Gas burners will not ignite ater cleaning stove top


hi friend,
On stove top burners that have sparklers that are not visible at the burner head, the burner heads have ignition ports. If the sparklers are functioning and the burners won't lite, chances are the ignition ports are clogged or restricted.

Ignition ports are tiny holes up one side of the burner head. If these holes are restricted, they must be cleared out. Cleaning can be accomplished using one of three methods.

Most commonly, a large sewing straight pin needle can be used. DO NOT enlarge the ignition holes. Doing so will have adverse burner lighting effects.

Burner heads where the flames will not burn completely around the entire circumference of the burner head, the holes which do not have flames are clogged up and need cleaning.

In cases of extremely dirty burner heads, soaking the burners in very hot water with plenty of dissolved automatic dishwasher detergent for several hours, rinsing and drying or a combination of both methods for heavily soiled burners.
