I have a iView 3100STB converter box with broken remote How would I program this into a universal remote? Do I need a specific code?

You have this backwards. The remote control is the source of codes. You can try using code search to find something that works. If a search through all codes stored in the remote fails, you may have to try a different universal remote. All universal remotes do not store all possible codes.

Better to buy original replacement remote, if universal works it will have limited functions.

Universal remote codes for sharp tv, model number 32f641, original remote broken...went to a universal remote and cannot find the codes that manage the volume, power and ect.

You need the sheet that came with the remote. If the manufacturer's codes do not work with your ??, then you need a more modern remote. The codes must ALREADY be in the remote to be used. The code is part of the REMOTE.
http://www.tvcodes.com/ may have the code for you.
