It could be a few things. Your internet connection is behind a fire wall, Theres a problem with your connection. Try Disabling your fire wall and then downloading the update. If that doesnt work contact your xboxrep

Go to this page and download the file manually. You can then burn it to disk or transfer from USB.

Xbox games wont work on xbox 360?

You most likely need to install the updates to your system.
These can be aquired from xbox live or from a disc.
to get the disc, you can go to this website and download it... then burn the iso to a disc and run it in your xbox.

You can also download this and copy it to a thumb drive... plug the thumb drive into your xbox and run the update.

After your system is updated, you should be able to run any compatible xbox game.

For a list of compatible games see here.

It wont read on my xbox 360

If you already have the Spring 2010 Dash Update for the Xbox 360 console this can be configured( go to Setting up your Xbox 360 with your USB Flash Drive).
The update allows you to configure a flash drive to hold up to 16GB of Xbox 360 games, gamertags, videos, and other information. You can connect two USB storage devices to your console at once.
  • If you don't have it yet, you need to download the update:
To install the update through Xbox LIVE
1. On your Xbox 360 console, sign in to Xbox LIVE.
2. Select Yes, updated now when prompted.
3. When you see the new Dashboard, you're done.

Setting up your Xbox 360 with your USB Flash Drive: 1. Plug the USB flash drive to the Xbox 360 console.
2. On your console, go to My Xbox, and then select System Settings.
3. Select Memory.
4. On the Storage Devices screen, select USB Storage Device.

X-box 360s brand new, cannot get it to download the update

Hello

The easiest option to update the Xbox 360 hard drive is to connect to Xbox Live. The console will automatically prompt the user to install any available updates. Alternatively, users can download the update files to a USB flash drive to transfer to the Xbox 360 hard drive.

Update via Xbox Live

Open the Xbox 360 dashboard menu. This menu automatically appears when the console is turned on. Press the "Xbox" button, followed by the "Y" button to return to the dashboard menu from a game.

Scroll up to the "My Xbox" tab of the dashboard menu.

Select "System Settings" from the "My Xbox" section of the dashboard. Scroll to the right while the "My Xbox" tab is selected to reach the "System Settings" icon.

Select "Network Settings" from the "System Settings" menu.

Select "Test Xbox Live Connection" from the network settings. A prompt will appear to update the Xbox 360 hard drive if your system is not already updated to the latest version.

Select "Yes, update now" to install the latest updates to your Xbox 360 hard drive.

Updating via USB Flash Drive

Copy the update files onto the root directory of your USB flash drive. You can download the Xbox 360 update files by going to download.microsoft.com/download/1/d/8/1d8c09be-278e-41cd-98be-eb9188128227/$systemupdate9199.zip. You must extract the files from the .zip file before placing them on the USB drive. The update files cannot be placed into a folder or the Xbox 360 system will not recognize them.

Remove the flash drive from your computer.

Insert the flash drive into the USB port on the Xbox 360 console.

Turn on the Xbox 360. An update prompt will appear when the system powers up.

Select "Yes, update now" to update the Xbox 360 hard drive.

Wont let xbox live update i checked connection and it was fine

If your Xbox 360 console is connected to the Internet through a router or gateway (as opposed to through a direct modem connection), try connecting the console directly to the modem. Here's how:

  1. Plug one end of a network cable into the back of your Xbox 360 console and the other end into your modem.
  2. On the console, sign in to Xbox LIVE and start the game.
  3. Choose to download the game update.

If you can download game updates when the Xbox 360 console is connected directly to the modem, there might be a problem with your router or gateway configuration.

Cheers!!

Xobox wont let me update it an stops the connection

Try clearing your 360's cache then attempt another download of update.

Instructions for clearing cache can be found here.
http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/11131/Xbox-360-Cache-Clear-Code-Revealed/

If you clear cache, you will have to download all updates for every game. I regularly clear my cache ever few months, helps with getting host for Halo3.
