Question about Dryers

1 Answer

I have a kenmore model 417.93042201 gas dryer that is about 5 years old. I had to replace the ignitor and in the process I removed the front of the cabinet. When I put it back together the dryer worked but the timer did not advance or cut the dryer off. I opened the top of the dryer and found a female connector with two white wires going to it that was not plugged up anywhere. It looked like it came off the timer. I saw two open mail connectors on the timer that were empty. One at the top labeled "B" and one on the bottom labeled "TM". Help.

Look on the loose wire for a letter or number, it will be one or two inches from the female spade connector end. Then look on the timer and look for an empty terminal and see if the number or letter matches the one on the wire. If so, bingo! Attach the wire to the timer and see what happens. Also you could look on the wiring diagram for white wire and see where it positivley goes. Good luck. Remember to do all work with the unit unplugged!!

Kenmore dryer

I have ran into the flame sensor going out on units causing the same issue. Or it can be the gas coils or ignitor that can be going bad. You may have to take some time and remove the lower front panel and watch the flame and how it cycles. It should cycle on and off to control the temperature inside the unit. Watch the ignition process for at least 5-10 ignitions. If at any time the ignitor glows red and then clicks off. And the gas does not come out to ignite, then you have gas coils going bad.

My Kenmore series 90 Gas dryer doesn't heat up.

This dryer is what I like to call a 4 wheel drive model. Because it has wheels on the front as well as the back. To access the gas assembly you pop open the bottom panel. Strat the dryer and observe the gas assembly. You should hear a click and then the ignitor should glow. Next the flame sensor should trip and cause the ignitor to shut down. The gas will now be allowed to come out and fire off a blast.I have 2 home videos. on shows the operation and replacement of the coils. The other is of an electric model but shows how to put the dryer together.

you have bad gas coils or a bad gas valve but most of the time it's the coils.if you just installed a new ignitor and it's glowing most likely it's the coils

Will not dry clothes

How old is the dryer? The ceramic ignitor piece may have partially broken off. It gets very brittle over the years. Look for a broken piece laying below where it sits. If you replace it, do not touch the ceramic part of the ignitor or it will not work right. Sometimes it's just as simple as a corroded wire connection. I once worked on a 25 year old Kenmore gas dryer that would not ignite. With the power cord unplugged, I disconnected and reconnected all the wire terminals inside and tried it again it worked perfectly like it was new.

My kenmore model 11070812990 gas dryer won't heat. I have removed it to the garage so I can work on it. I have the front, back, and top off, Have determined the ignitor is working, what should I be looking...

HOW DID YOU DETERMINED THE IGNITOR WORKS? DID IT GLOWS REALLY RED? IF IT DID, MEANS YOU HAVE GOOD FUSE AND YOU SHOULD CHECK THE RADIANT SENSOR(NEXT TO IGNITOR) AND THE COILS.IF THE IGNITOR DID NOT GLOW AT ALL, THEN YOU HAVE A BROKEN FUSE. IT IS LOCATED IN THE BACK. ABOUT AN INCH LONG AND IT'S NARROW. CHECK FOR CONTINUITY. OPEN MEANS IT'S BAD. OHM READING MEANS GOOD.

Kenmore gas dryer model 110 97576200 will not heat up

WHERE IS THE LINT SCREEN ON YOUR DRYER? ON TOP OF THE DRYER? IF SO, UNPLUG DRYER. REMOVE THE PANEL IN THE BACK, HAS NINE SCREWS(1/4 NUT DRIVER). THE FUSE IS A SKINNY TWO TERMINAL DOWN NEAR THE BOTTOM. USE AN OHM METER TO CHECK. IF NO READING, THE FUSE IS BAD, REPLACE AND HOPE NOTHING ELSE LIKE THE IGNITOR IS BAD TOO. GOOD LUCK...

Removing front panel

The first thing to do is to remove the plastic plug on the lower left front corner of the dryer. it is just a small square plastic piece. This way you can see if the ignitor is glowing red. But to answer your question, You remove the 2 screws underneth the lint filter. Then the top will just pop up with a screwdriver. Then there is 2 5/16 screws holding the front on. (this is for the most common kenmore. If this sounds all wrong i will tell how the other model comes upart.
