I have a Acer Aspire 6920 that ran on Vista had a problem with it and the recovery 1 disk runs but the Disk two says it has nothing in in. Now all I get is Bootmgr is missing... I can not get new recovery disk from acer because they say its not available. How can I get my system back also the f10 does not work. also I noticed that when I hit the f2 and go to security the HDD password is Frozen. Is it suppose to be. Please help I don't have the money to take it to the shop

Unfortunately since you started the recovery process, your hard drive has most likely already been wiped, and without the second disk you will not be able to complete it, the disc may be damaged, or not have been written properly, I would first try to clean the disk simply by breathing moist air onto it then wiping it off with a soft cloth, if the problem is scratches there aren't really any options.
your other option is to install a copy of vista or another version of windows using a standard install disk, you should have a vista key printed on a sticker on the underside of the laptop, so if you know someone with a vista cd then it is perfectly legal to install with theirs and use your key. alternatively you could install xp or windows 7 , but you would have to purchase it, as well as go onto the acer site, going to support, and then downloads, and make sure there are device drivers for the operating system you are choosing. you will also have to do this if you use a vista cd from someone else, as a standard copy of windows will not include your systems hardware drivers as the acer recovery cd does.
please clarify what you mean by the HDD password is frozen. if you mean there is a password on it you do not know, often you are able to reset the bios completely by unplugging the system, removing the battery and holding down the power button for 60 seconds.

try hitting alt-F10 at startup... should access the recovery partition and then just follow the prompts. hope that helps!

Hi i reset my acer aspire 6920 to factory settings as the system was running very slow and i could not find the problem...but now i have a worse one.... once it does the factory restore by pressing alt f10...


Sorry to hear about your problem.

The only other way to resolve this issue is going to with the use of recovery media.

Currently you're using the built in partition, but i'm hoping you also made some disks like it would've asked you to.

If so, insert disk 1 and restart to load from the recovery disc.
If not - you can contact Acer to be supplied with these, they'll still be a lot cheaper than buying Windows, but will cost approx $50.

Hi i put my acer aspire 6920 through a restore to fatory settings, it restarted itself and now it starts up as fair as the logo and then all that happens is a flashing line in the left hand corner please...

The BIOS can't locate the boot loader so windows can't be booted. It's a bad install, do the recovery procedure again. If it fails again then the hard disk is defective, replace it before reinstalling one more time.

I bought the Acer 6920 factory restore CD's to set it back to factory default but when i run it it gets to the third disk at 90% and then says Restore Failed and gives me this Error code 0xd000000a. Does...

It stands to reason that if it ran the other 2 it should run all of them. that tells me its probably not your system. The disk could be faulty. I would check with manufactuer.

Trying to put a recovery disk on my pc for the acer aspire one. problem is my pc is not taking this disk i have tryed rebooting from the cd but nothing can anyone help please

Is the system running MS Vista? I had this problem with a PC the other day. What I ended up doing was using an XP disk to format the HDD, then before I rebooted I ejected the XP disk and insterted the recovery disk. When the system rebooted, THEN it booted from the recovery disk.

this is a recovery disk failure:
just reload using Ubuntu Linux from
cost: 6 dollars (forget Vista it never works!)
