Was the 'fix' a hardware repair or a switch position? You should at least remember that.

NEVER USE MAXIMUM VOLUME FOR TROUBLESHOOTING.

Turn the volume control to something medium.

The errant switch, control or condition may change and you will suddenly release the amp's full power and possibly destroying your speakers. If a signal isn't audible at 1/2 volume it's probably not there.

Carefully examine the front panel for clues like a misplaced Mute or Tape Monitor control selected.

There is a good chance that a common control may have developed a high-resistance or 'dead' spot through defect or idleness and is causing your symptom. Turn the POWER OFF and operate every control throughout its range a number of times, especially rarely-used ones like Tape Monitors and the Mute control.

Turn the volume to something reasonable and see if that helped.

Determine if an analog receiver has blown a channel

When you need to replace the output transistors, do them both at the same time with a matched pair. That way you won't unbalance the power supply and will be assured of the same power out is available on both channels.

All the lights are not working found 2 blown fuses / replaced still not working the power lite flashes red then turns to green

When a fuse blow suspect an overload. In an amp this old it will certainly be one (or more) of the main output transistors that has shorted.

I found an old Sansui 9090 receiver that I'm told is a great receiver. It looks like it's still new but it hasn't been used in several years. I have one speaker plugged into the input, and it is...

Speakers don't plug into inputs. Check your work.

Try powering it up with nothing attached, then proceed to attach things (like a speaker to the speaker terminals) and see what happens.

Just bought a 9090 at a flea market; everything lights up, including the red "protection" light at the power button, which flashes. There's no sound, and the power meters don't budge.

The outputs are probably shorted. This unit requries service. I can say though, that once repaired, you will love this unit. Expecta repair cost inteh $150-$200 range. It is worthy it. If the unit is in good condition (appearance), than it is worth $400+ when working.

Center channel goes muffled after a while of use.

It is likely that something overheating is causing the problem, but nothing should be overheating. Cleaning won't hurt and may help but it is likely to require repair of the faulty component, perhaps a failing capacitor or amplifier.
