Question about Toshiba 37RV530U LCD TV

Open Question

My Toshiba 37RV530U LCD TV won't boot up. I've tried unplugging and replugging the power cord. All I get on front panel is 3 blinking yellows then a pause then 3 blinking yellows. This continues forever. Pushing the power button on the remote or on the set does nothing

SOURCE: yellow light blinking - blank screen - won't turn on

The problem is with the signal board. Basically, it is not allowing the power signal to go from the on button from the set or the remote to the TV. I am having the exact same problem with my 42" LCD Regza. Currently, if you are under warranty, Toshiba does not have these in stock. They will not have them available to send until early January. My TV has been at the repair shop since December 4th. I am very upset as I won't be able to watch the bowl games in HD. If your set is still under warranty then call Toshiba help line at 800-575-5469. You will need the model number of yout TV that is listed on the front of the owner's manual. They are:
27HL67
32HL67
32HL67U
37HL67
42HL67

The first number will be the giveaway as to which model you have. It is the size of your set. They will ask you to try a hard reset. (Hold pwer button down for 5 seconds until you see the yellow light go solid and go off.) This will most likely not work. If it does, you are lucky. I found that if you unplug the TV for an extened period of time, ie overnight, ity may come back on. It will eventually give out completely though. Better to get the problem addressed with the manufacturer. If you are not under warranty then I do not know what to tell you. Right now I am searching the internet to see if I can find this part to maybe purchase myself. Only if it is not too costly. If I find anything I will post here for all. If you have any questions, feel free to email me a wkjtx@hotmail.com and I might be able to give you more details on your problem. Good Luck.

SOURCE: Doesn't power on - Amber LED Blinking

Here's how I fixed mine...

Look inside the back of the TV just above the power cord - there are two small LEDs, one green and one yellow (no need to open the case - you can see them through the cooling slots). In my case, the green LED would light for a few moments after plugging the TV in, then the yellow one would light and stay lit.

Go to the Toshiba site and download the latest firmware upgrade.

Copy the firmward upgrade to a SD memory card using your PC (SDHC cards larger than 2GB don't appear to be supported by the TV, so use a smaller one). I copied *both* the zip file as downloaded from Toshiba, and the contents of the zip file. That is, I expanded the zip file and copied the contents to the SD card as well.

There's a metal cover over the SD card slot on the back of the TV. Remove it (a single screw)...at one point, Toshiba has directions on the firmware download web site.

Unplug the TV and insert the SD card. Plug in the TV again, and in my case, those little LEDs stayed green. I saw none of the instructions on the TV screen - rather I just let it sit for about 10 minutes, then I unplugged the TV, removed the SD card, and plugged the TV in again. Viola - the TV works.

I'm thinking perhaps Toshiba uses a type of memory that requires battery backup, and if the TV is unplugged for an extended period of time, it's necessary to re-flash it.

SOURCE: Flashing power button tv won't turn on

yes call the tech and have the power board replaced. In future have the TV plugged into an anti surge board to protect it ( and you from expensive repair.) I suspect you will need a new power supply fitted

SOURCE: i have a 42 inch toshiba lcd tv its bran new led

3 Blinks indicates that there is fault with the power supply of the set. Since the set is brand new, run back to the store and get a replacement. Also purchase the extended warranty(Think of the 250$ that you are gonna spend on this repair if the same thing happens right after your 1 year warranty expires?)

Hope this helps,
Sai.

Toshiba Regza 37in - 37HL17
TV will not turn on - Yellow power ind. Light blinks three times...
Fixed with a firmware update (hard to believe, but true). Search Google for a file named: 2007SEN069.zip (don't worry if the page you find it on doesn't mention the 37HL17 - it worked fine). Unzip the file, and copy the 3 folders and 3 files to the root of a small SD card. The SD card MUST be 2GB or less in size (I used a 1GB card), and it MUST be formatted with FAT-16 (not FAT-32). Mine was pre-formatted as FAT (FAT-16). The SD port is on the back of the TV behind a cover plate near the power cable. You do NOT need to remove the back cover of the TV, just the small cover plate (1 screw). UNPLUG the TV; remove the cover plate; insert the SD card (prepped as explained above); Plug in the TV; Watch the yellow lights blink, then turn blue, then go dark; UNPLUG the TV; remove the SD Card and replace the cover; Plug in the TV; Yellow lights will blink a few times (this is normal); when blinking stops, turn on the TV and you should be good to go. :-)

I have a toshiba 42HL167. Love it but recently when the power is off iget a repeating blinking yellow light. Blinks 3 times pauses blinks 3 time pauses blinks either 2 or 3 times then stops for 25 seconds...

Yes. The Yellow LED blinking 3 times is a normal boot-up, but if it keeps doing it -- it needs the firmware "update" (which is more like a reload because it got corrupted.) The problem is, no one talks about how to do that. (there is a PDF and firmware on toshiba's website, but it lacks some crucial details.)

My friend gave me his 42HL167 after this problem started after a power event during a storm and I managed to fix it by reloading the firmware.

I posted instructions on my website at:

http://www.benjammin.net/www/pages/techtips/Toshiba-Regza-42HL167.html

Once I figured out some of the facts, it was a breeze...
