When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a can of compressed air to do this. Use a fan assisted laptop cooling pad for addition cooling.

I think you are on the right track in trying to clean out the dust. I had a Toshiba laptop that had the same issue. What I learned is that I was unable to get the amazingly packed-in lint and dust without taking the laptop completely apart and removing the cover to the heat sinks. Compressed air and vacuuming only removed about 20% of the crud in there. Once i got it completely cleaned out, it worked great. Good luck!

First, try a cold start, shut down, unplug, remove battery, plug in, reboot. Any change? Yes/No? If no, do a system restore to a date before this issue, or re-install the CD rom driver. Try this
unplug plug the power cord and remove the battery and hold the power button for 45 seconds,Then reinstall the battery and and try to start the computer,

if it fails to start
unplug plug the power cord and remove the battery and hold the power button for 45 seconds and
remove the memory and any usb devices that may be plugged in,then start it,

If it starts

Allow it to load completely and then shut it down and install one memory stick and restart, if all is well after if loads completely, shut down again and install the other memory stick and restart, if all is well again wait until it loads completely and then plug in and allow to load each of the usb devices you may have

Toshiba x205-s9349 overheating and shutting down

First thing you need to do is vacuum out your cooling ports. Sometimes they get so clogged with dust it packs solid. Using a new can of compressed air will help also. You will be surprised how much dust comes out so don't trash your room.

Also, don't make the mistake of sitting it on soft surfaces (like your lap or bed) that may block off intake vents for cooling.

One more thing, make sure your battery was not part of the battery recall that took place several years ago because of over heating. Google the number on your battery and see what comes up.

I gt power to the pc but it does not boot and the

well on the satellite x205 it could be a couple things. there isnt any beep code? if there is no beep code then it would need atleast a main system board. i worked on 2 last week but they had beep codes (3beeps) which were video cards. in your case pull each stick of ram, then if thats not the case order a main system board.

Toshiba Satellite® X205-S9349 bios beeping

the beep codes you are getting are for video but if the system boots and you have video im sure it is something with the ram on the video card. unfortunatly this will require a service from toshiba. these cards are intergrated and will require the motherboard to be replaced.
