Question about Pioneer DEH-P690UB CD Player

2 Answers

We have a DEH-6 pioneer radio that we are trying to install in the 1994 dodge caravan. We cannot find where to hook the white wire from the radio. when you turn the ignition on the radio lights up but the music doesn't play. If you rub the white wire on the top of the radio a few times the music will play through the speakers. We do not have any wiring diagrams for this model to go by. Any help would be appreciated

You may be using the wrong adapter. Your Durango has a DK GRN/RED wire that supplies power to the separate amplifier. Your adapter may not have provisions for connecting the steering wheel controls to your new radio. Also check 15A FUSE 4 in the junction block in case it is open.

Apparently, you have no power at the 12 volt battery/memory wire at the radio harness of the vehicle. This wire is white with blue in color.
Also, based upon your description, you have connected the battery/memory wire and the accessory wire of the radio to the 12 volt accessory (switched) wire of the vehicle. This wire is white with red in color.
Check the radio/ stereo fuse of the car. You may have blown the fuse during your installation.
You have no memory at the radio because when you turn off the key, you lose all power to the radio.
Also, I mentioned the wire colors just in case you used an aftermarket radio wiring harness. Make sure that the yellow from the Pioneer unit is going to the battery power source and, the red of the Pioneer is going to the switched power source.

Chrysler uses a silver braided wire directly from the center of the chasis on the back of the factory radio, it's about 3/4" wide. .

No sound w/ pioneer DEH-P3700MP

chrystler sometimes has an amplifier. the blue with a white stripe wire on the radio is for that. connect it to a black wire that was left over. ps it isn't on the wireharness on the radio. it is the one just laying inside the dash accomidating the other wires. it should turn on just fine.

Have you measured the 12v ignition and permanent supply?
Also check the earth.
You will need a tester for this.
Check the fuses
