Question about Harman Kardon SoundSticks II Computer Speakers

1 Answer

Probably from being in a humid climate...my sticks II have come apart at the seams. If I tilt them they stay together from gravity. Is there a glue or tape that I could use to put them back together without affecting their sound quality?

Your best bet is 30 min epoxy. As it will harden very stiff and seal the sound in well. Super glue may also work just as well but i think it will dry to quick.

Most home improvement stores will sell in the small 2 part tube. Which when mixed can be applied to stuff.

The #5 sticks, how can this be corrected / repaired?

I would take it apart. Be sure to label parts, take pictures, so you can put it all back together. Some drink probably got split on it, so it sticks. Just clean it with a damp cloth and make sure it has stopped sticking before you put it back together.

Good luck.

I need to glue twopieces of cardboard in a v shape to use for pleating material which then has to go into a steamer so the cardboard must stay together

You can use many different types of hot glue guns and sticks to create a "Fiber Tear" meaning the cardboard will rip before the glue bond fails. Gluegun.com has a great selection of craft & industrial guns as well as glue sticks. Try the Tough Guy glue sticks, strongest product on the market bar none - http://www.gluegun.com/products/infinity-melt-tough-guy-glue-sticks

Arrow TR 550 heats up fine but glue stick won't feed by the trigger. If I push the stick with my hand glue does come out, but the trigger seems to "slip" on the glue stick. Any ideas?

The trigger probably really is slipping on the glue stick. If you've changed the type or size of glue recently, try changing back to what you were using, or just something else. Maybe the glue stick is too small, or too slippery for the gun. If not that, then it's a mechanical problem. There are some screws on the side of the gun. With it unplugged and cool, take them out and open the case. It might be stuck together with some internal connections as well as the screws, but jamming a flathead screwdriver in them can usually wedge them apart. With the gun open, move the trigger and look for the parts that move with it in the area where the glue stick goes. If you can find something to attach to these parts to make them just a tiny bit longer, do that. The parts that grip the glue have probably worn down or just don't fit, and the fact that you can tell the trigger is slipping means that it's probably very close to grabbing, but not quite close enough. Any little extension to the grabbing parts should do, but be careful not to block the path of the glue.

Olympus XD60 Microcassette

If the tape has ripped from the wheel itself then you can glue it back to the wheel with a good strong glue (I'd recommend araldite), or if the tape has ripped you can use sellotape to fasten the two sections back together.

I believe this cassette is moulded plastic so what you will need to do is carefully break it apart along the central seam to access and repair the tape itself, then use your strong glue to glue it back up after the repair is done. You have to be really careful dong this so as to not get glue inside the tape itself and gum up the mechanism.

Finally make sure you leave it to set properly before you try and play it (refer to the glue packet), for araldite I think its 24 hours. Also if you use glueto stick the tape back to the wheel make sure that is set before you reassemble the cassette or your wheel will get jammed.
