Try going into the router configuration page and changing the channel on your router to see if you get a better connection.

Just bought a used linksys wireless G broudband router need to creat new password cant get in

Plug in an ethernet cable from the router to your computer. Both need to be be powered up. On the back of the router you will see a small reset button. Push it in with an ink pen or similar object for about 30 seconds. When you release the reset button, the lights should blink.

Then open IE or your browser and type in

Leave the ID blank and type in admin for the password.

If that doesn't work, use admin for the ID and admin for the password.

You're in.

I bought a Linksys wireless router at a garage sale and it is akingfor apassword to seet it up. I called Linksys and the want to charge me to reconfigure it.There has to be a way I can do this myself. can...

Look at the back of the router.
Is there a "RESET" button? If so, push it in, for a few seconds,
to reset the router to "factory" settings (ID of "blank", and password of 'admin').
If no such button, then straighten one end of a Norwegian paper-clip, and push that end into the small hole in the back of the router, until you feel resistance. Then, push it in, and hold it in for 30 seconds, to "reset" the router.

I cant figure out my wep passcode

Unplug the router, hold the reset button in for 15-30 seconds, plug it back in, keep holding the reset button in for another 15-30 seconds. This should put it back the way it came from the factory. Or, you can most likely, hardwire (CAT5) from the pc to the router, visit, which is your router config program, and retrieve your wep code from there. The last thing you want to do is spend 24-48 hours figuring out how to hack your wireless network.

Wireless router has stopped working

Unplug the router for 10 seconds, then reconnect everything. After plugging it back in, look at the back of the router. Immediately to the left of the antenna is a little hole where a factory reset button resides. You may need to use a pencil or pen to push it in, but push and hold for about 5 seconds. This will reset it back to factory defaults, which should get you connected.

Unable to reset a Belkin Wireless N F5D8236-4v1 back to default

That is indeed strange. Holding in the reset button should definitely clear the wireless router memory. Are you sure that you're going to the right administration page to configure the router? It should be something like

Also... by any chance are there other wireless networks nearby? I'm wondering if your computer accidentally connected to that while the wireless router was off... and now you're going to the wrong router.

If none of that works, try leaving the router unplugged for about five minutes. The volatile memory shouldn't last much longer than that.

On the back of the router, there is a little tiny reset button, you will need to use a small object like a toothpick to push that button. Hold it down for a full 15 seconds and release. Immediately unplug both the router and cable box power supplies and wait an additional 15 seconds. Plug the cable box back in first, then the router afterward.

Just look on the back of the router and find the reset hole. It's small and you'll need a paperclip to put in the hole but you must unplug the router first then put the paper clip end into the hole and hold the button down while you plug in the router making sure you hold the button for about 20 seconds. Now you should have a reset router.
Hope that helps,
