There is a chance the drain hose has buildup within it and needs to be cleared out. This will take about an hour.

Steps:

  • 1- Unplug the electrical cord on the washer from the wall outlet.
  • 2
  • Unfasten the hot and cold water hoses from the water lines after you shut off the water valves. Use a pair of slip-joint pliers to turn the hose fittings counterclockwise to remove them.

  • 3 Pull the washing machine far enough away from the wall so you can comfortably work on the rear of the machine.

  • 4 Locate the access panel toward the bottom left side of the back of the washer. Use a nut driver to remove the nuts that secure the access panel, and remove it.

  • 5 Find the water pump, which will have two hoses attached to it.

  • 6 Identify which hose is the drain hose by tracing it to the outside of the machine. The pump may also be labeled "Inlet" and "Outlet." The drain hose is attached to the outlet.

  • 7 Squeeze the clamp that secures the end of the drain hose to the water pump, using a pair of slip-joint pliers. Remove the end of the hose from the pump.

  • 8 Insert a plumbing snake into the end of the hose and twist the snake as you feed it through the hose. After approximately 10 feet of the snake is fed through the drain hose, you should see the snake and the clog come out the other end of the hose.

  • 9 Reattach the drain hose to the water pump and replace the access panel. Reconnect the water hoses and turn on the water valves. Push the washer back against the wall and plug in the electrical cord.

  • Hope this helps!

Whirlpool washer - tub drains while it fills.

Your drain is to low. Make sure that the drain that your discharge hose is going into is at least as high as the washer. If not the water will drain out as fast as you can fill it.

Whirlpool washer fills, begins to agitate, then drains

Water siphoning out the drain line
If the water is continues to fill and water is draining while it is filling or agitating, Check the height of the stand pipe. It should be about 36" above the floor. If the height is correct it may need to have an anti-siphoning valve installed into the drain line.
moz-screenshot.jpgThe washer fills and drains at the same time only on the rinse cycle.
Shut the machine off with timer during this period and raise the drain hose. If the water continues to drain, you will need to install an anti-siphon kit.

My washer will not fill during the cycle for high agitation

You may have a siphoning problem. Double check your drain hose and make sure it's not shoved down in the standpipe too far. The standpipe is the drain line at the wall. If your drain hose is placed too deep into the standpipe, or if you have the top of the standpipe sealed off, the washer will begin to fill and continue to drain at the same time. The symptom will appear as if the washer is constantly filling. You need to leave an air gap opening around the rim of the standpipe, and the drain hose should only be placed about 4 to 6 inches into the drain line. I hope this helps you. Post back if this is not the problem you are experiencing and I will try to provide you with a better solution. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Wash Machine Drainage problem

i am a recently retired appliance engineer of 20 years, slowing down the flow of water from any electrical washing appliances can be dangerous and will cause extensive damage to the appliance in question, at the very least it will stop half way through the cycle every time the only way to remedy this is to rectify the drain, or at least sort out another waste water outlet sorry
