Forgotten password when I attempt to access 192.168.1.1 I'm asked for a username and password. . .admin/admin is not doing it, and i tried hitting the reset, but it didn't seem to change anything. I have never touched this before and am not sure why it isn't the default in the first place.

Hello, The easiest way to correct it to reset router back to default. Reset hole/button on back need to be held in 10-15 seconds. 5 seconds or less and it will reboot router. Once it is reset to default use 192.168.1.1 for address and "admin" for password. Leave usename blank. After in settings these can be changed. Hope this helps.

Loging in

Hello :)
Do you mean logging in to the router itself and accessing it's settings? If so, have you tried logging in to it with a common stock username and password? It should be Username: admin Password: admin or just admin in the username bar and hitting enter. This depends on your router, if you know the name of your router you could easily find the stock login and password. Also, if you got the router from your ISP it might have a different password. If so, the password and login should be at the bottom of the router.
Hope this helped.

Linksys password recovery

Computer Hope does not assist users in bypassing this security measure. If this is your router and you've forgotten the username or password we suggest that the router be hard reset and then setup with a new username and password.
Default username and password

Before doing a hard reset on the router you may want to try the default username and password. While this is not the same for all routers, this may allow you access to your router.

Username: Admin or Administrator
Password: <Blank>, try just pressing enter or try "admin" as the password as well.

If this does not work and you believe the router is using the default username and passwords try viewing the default settings at routerpasswords.com.
Resetting your router

If the default username and password doesn't work it's likely you or someone whose setup your router has enabled a password that has been forgotten. Thankfully most routers will have a small pinhole button on the back or bottom of the router (like that shown in the picture to the right), pressing this button in and holding on this button for 10-15 seconds will hard reset the router. After this has been done setup the router again and enter a username and password that you can write down.
hope this helps

If you have forgotten your LinkSys router password, the easiest thing to do is to reset your router to the factory default settings.
To restore the router configuration to factory defaults, hold the reset button on the unit for 30 seconds.
Once your router is hard reset, you will need to login and configure it again.
To reconfigure your LinkSys, connect a PC to one of it'sEthernet ports, load a web browser, and go to the URLhttp://192.168.1.1/. This will take you to a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password to login to your router.
LinkSys Default Password
On older LinkSys routers, the default username is blank and the default password is "admin." While newer models, both the default username and the default password are set to "admin."
Once you go past the login screen, you should be able to reconfigure the LinkSys router.
Here are some of LinkSys Router models along with its Default usernames:

Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL Ethernet routers: Administrator
Linksys WRT54G, BEFW11S4: admin
Linksys Comcast routers: comcast
All other Linksys routers: {none}
Here are some of LinkSys Router models along with its Default passwords:
Linksys Comcast routers: 1234
Linksys BEFW11S4: {none}
All other Linksys routers: admin
For those [none] username/password entries listed above, no name or password is required. Just skip or press the Enter/Return key when prompted for those settings.

The default D-link router login is admin with no password. With that said, you probably cannot login to your router because D-link requires you to change this default login the very first time you login to set it up. If you have a router you setup a long time ago and have forgotten its password and settings, you will likely have to reset D-link router password.

If you look at the back of your D-link router, you will see a pin-hole. Inside that hole is a button that resets the router. To perform the reset, insert the end of a paperclip in the hole and depress the button for about ten seconds. Leave the router on during this time. It will reboot by itself and the WAN light will begin flashing on the front.

When it stops, the router is reset and you can login to it using your web browser. Just type http://192.168.0.1 and click enter. You should see the D-link login window. Type admin without a password and you will be presented with the default d-link settings again. Configure a new password and wireless settings and your router will now be accessible again

I need to limit access to my wlan router. How do I do it? I typed 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of the Internet Explorer and hit enter. I then typed admin in the username box and password in the password...

You could try "admin" as the username and "password1" as the password, or "admin" as the username and no password. If neither of those work, you might have to contact Linksys tech support.

Once you get into your router's settings, there are several things you can do to limit access to your router. The first thing is to change the default password. You can also change your network name (SSID), enable MAC filtering, or turn on WEP, WPA, or WPA2 security, depending on which options your router and computers support.

I changed my password but I forgot it

Do you have a Linksys router and you have forgotten your password or you want to reset the password to the default. Firstly you must have physical access to the router. This article is basically for WRT54g and model BEFW11S4
If you have changed the password from the default password and have forgotten the default or your router did not come with any documentation.
To regain access to the router try the following. In the username field leaveit blank and in the password field type admin

Username / leave blank
password / admin

To reset the router
While the back of your router might look different, the reset button is usually clearly marked. To reset the router to the default password, insert something thin--like a pencil point--and depress the red button. Hold that for a few seconds. The password for your Linksys router should have reverted to its default.
Try accessing it from a machine that is plugged directly into it. The default address is usually http://192.168.1.1. When you gain access to the router then you can change the password to any word of your choice.

Can't get to IP address to fix 323 error on Linksys WRT54G2

If admin password is not working, it might have been changed to something else. Try to type any password that you can think of. If none works, you need to reset the router by pressing the reset button at the back of it for 30 seconds, then unplug the power for 30 seconds, plug it back in then try to access the 192.168.1.1 page again, that should do it for admin as the password, no username.

I cannot get my router to connect to my computer

Okay, if you have not setup a password for it the default on most linksys routers is this:

Username - admin

Password - admin

if that doesn't work then try just the password and no username. This will get you to the router admin page.

But let me ask you this, does your computer access the internet right now on that computer?

Forgotten your password
Press the Reset button for about 10 seconds to reset the router to the defaults,
then use the default user name and password (admin and admin) to access the
Gateway Wireless Router Setup utility.

Usually the default password is found on the bottom of the router .You can find number below the SN bar code.
