if you bent the blade most likely you bent the crankshaft too.
Remove the spark plug and pull the rope and remove excess oil from the spark plug hole
check the spark plug for spark if you have none then a flywheel key is sheered a more in depth fix.
If you get it started you may notice a whole lota vibration due to a bent crank shaft or maybe not?

Remove the float bowl again and remove the BRASS Jet in the bottom of the venturi throat. Clean the pin hole of the Jet so that you can see through it. DO NOT force anything through it. Just clean it. Underneath the jet is the venturi tube itself. It is also unscrewed with a screw driver. Remove it and clean all ofthe holes in it. Then reassemble tube and jet in to the venturi. Check the BOWL NUT for 2 holes. If the holes are clogged your engine will suffer from a lack of fuel. Lastly check that you have FUEL flow from the tank to the carb. If the tank outlet hole is clogged you will also have a lack of fuel problem.

Testimonial: "Thank you for your very helpful advice and detailed insructions as to what to do to correct this problem with starting my mower. runs like new now. Thanks again for taking the time to help me out. Grump."
SOURCE: i have a Mtd 22
Drain out the fuel into a glass bowl and see if there is a layer of water in the fuel. It will be on the bottom of the bowl. This water will keep your mower from running except for the excessive amount of fuel water used during starting with the primer.
Now...if you find water in the mower...the source was most likely the gas can you use. Is it kept closed when not being used? Is the vent cap missing? Is it last years fuel? All of these conditions lead to water in the gas can and eventually find their way into the motor.
Good luck and be careful!
