    What kind of error message do you get? You mean you got Word preloaded on your machine, but you get to buy a license before you can use it? Because that's a funky sales channel Microsoft happens to have by dint of offering OEM OS solutions. Perhaps you have another situation you want to explain better, or want to know about free text editors (e.g. NoteTab Free) or word processors (e.g. LibreOffice or Oracle OpenOffice.)

My microsoft word is not opening.

Please check in task manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) in Process tab, if WinWord.exe is running, if it is, close all the entries with that name and try running/opening Word again.

Can't find the Microsoft word in my office programs

Hi,

If you have installed Word previously and you can't find it then it means the shortcut was deleted. You can still access winword by:

1) Go to Start-> Run.
2) Type Winword.exe and Word will come up if it is still installed.

I have lost word and do not have the disk

If you only deleted the Icon, try start, run, type:  WINWORD on the run line, press <enter>  Word should open.  If that works, you can do a search for WINWORD.EXE once it appears in the search box, right click it, click SEND TO, Click DESKTOP and you'll have a new Icon.
If Word in uninstalled, and you do not have the installation media, you can try downloading OPEN OFFICE.  It is a free office suite that is compatible with most Office Documents

A buffer overrun error is a somewhat generic error in the sense that buffer overruns can occur in the OS, OS subsystems or any application that you may be running. So what you have posted here does not necessarily tell me where the issue lies. Here's a progressive approach to solving the issue.

Buffer overruns are runtime errors in the program code. They occur when a program attempts to write more information to a particular "array" than is allowed or expected. MS Windows has a number of security patches specifically designed to fix these loopholes in their OS. So to start with, I strongly suggest visiting the Windows Update site and patching your Windows operating system until the website tells you that there a no updates available. Sometimes you will have to go through the process a few times before all the updates are successfully applied.

Next visit the Microsoft Office update site (office.microsoft.com/officeupdate). There is also a link to it on the Windows Update page. Update your Office application in the same manner. Once that's done if you are still experiencing the problem, you'll want to launch the installer for MS Office from your disk and attempt a repair.

If that fails, perform an uninstall of MS Office, then manually delete the Winword.exe file from your PC and reinstall the software from scratch.

This progressive approach should fix whatever the issue is.

Good luck!
