Sure you can fix it. The turn table just have a small motor inside and some gears. Remove it and check the motor for contitunity and also check if the wire leads getting power when the oven is on. Most of the time the motor is hard to repair and not worth your time so it is best to replace it, it has enamelled wires as thin as human hairs. lol

GE Spacemaker microwave turntable no longer turns. Microwave still heats, but turntable has stopped working. What are likely causes? And is this something I can attempt to fix myself?

This is a common problem the turntable motor has failed, it can be replaced.. but Microwaves are VERY dangerous. Due to the enormous energy stored in the main Capacitor, this MUST be discharged to earth B4 attempting any repairs. apart from that though should be easy enough. I do recommend a reputable service center/man tho.

OK, you have two components that are faulty. the magnetron and the turntable motor as well. replacing these two components will fix both issues.

It mkay just be the overload fuse inside the back panel. I highly recommend a certified electrician or repairman to change this. Good luck

Microwave turntable motor or belt?

I assume you don't have an illustrated parts list try and Google one up using make and model number etc. It is also a good guide on what needt to be removed and in what sequence.

As far as the novice part, the turntable is a basket case now what can you hurt, this is how we all learned, try to fix it if you cant then call someone who can, not a big deal.

No longer turns

on the bottom of most units you can get to the turntable motor with some side cutters, cut the joins. pull the little flap off and there is your motor run a current through it to see if it turns(how much will say on the motor) if not turning there is your problem

Turntable does not work

If the rest of the oven works fine, then this indicates that you might have a problem with the motor that turns the turntable.

If you try to turn the turntable manually (gently), does it turn freely or is there resistance? If it turns freely, the mechanical mechanism between the turntable and motor may be broken and the motor may be ok.

The oven's microprocessor also controlls the motor. There could be a problem there.

You'll need to have it looked at by a service center. Although its not that difficult to determine which of the reasons I mentioned above is the cause, it can be however, dangerous to operate a microwave oven with the cover off and with high voltage circuits exposed.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!

Turntable roller rest

It's called either the turntable coupler or the turntable support, depending on your model number. You can visit the Sears parts Web site at http://www3.sears.com/ and enter your full model number and see exploded view diagrams, parts lists, and order the part. Or you can call Sears parts at 1-800-252-1698.
